If it doesn't bother you letting your mind wonder farther than today. Let me know.

I've seen the future and it will be
I've seen the future and it works
If there's life after, we will see
So I can't go like a jerk
Systematic overthrow of the underclass
Hollywood conjures images of the past
New world needs spirituality that will last
I've seen the future and it will be

(Using Warner Herzog's voice) The same as it has always been. New ways to distract us from the knowledge of our own impending doom.

I have already posted a thread with my preliminary findings on this issue: http://www.thebore.com/forum/index.php?topic=43344.msg2046205#msg2046205

Further threads elaborating on this and related concepts are in the pipeline, so you might want to consider waiting patiently to keep your message aligned, rather than introducing gratuitous fragmentation and customer confusion with your own redundant threads.

The Castle, whose contours were already beginning to dissolve, lay silent as ever; never yet had K seen there the slightest sign of life – perhaps it was impossible to recognize anything at a distance, and yet the eye demanded it and could not endure that stillness. When K looked at the Castle, often it seemed to him as if he were observing someone who sat there quietly gazing in front of him, not lost in thought and so oblivious of everything, but free and untroubled, as if he were alone with nobody to observe him, and yet must notice that he was observed, and all the same remained with his calm not even slightly disturbed; and really – one did not know whether it was cause or effect – the gaze of the observer could not remain concentrated there, but slid away.

An optimal size for phones will finally be found. No more holding paperback books up to one's ear for chats.
We will find out our environments are really toxic to us, and people who are capable of telecommuting will have an exodus to the countryside.
Tech-enabled democracy will continue to be unattainable due to ludditism on the Right, lack of consensus on the Left, and apathy from centrists.
Drone surveillance at home will become ubiquitous, with the largest legal pickle to be solved being outsourced drone operators at privately-held clearinghouses not actually physically residing in the areas they police.

It will be too late by then. We'll have waited too long and it'll never be enough. It's already too late now.

20-30 years from now, I see Europe and East Asia being moribund due to the slowing growth rates, American middle class holding on by a thread (but GDP will still be high due to immigration), China and India growth starting to slow down, and several African nations becoming the next big-boom economies (Botswana, Nigeria and Angola in particular).

I see more competition over faster-dwindling resources (water will be the biggest one) leading to even more skirmishes and conflicts between states. Large-scale environmental changes will be occurring, American congress will finally get over their issue of gridlock and attempt to take action to mitigate this but it will be too little, too late.

Things will go even more downhill in the future, barring the discovery of a deus-ex-machina technology.

so someday, people will gather to eat highly processed foodstuffs that are barely reminiscent of the images of the proteins and traditional ingredients that they are meant to conjure upon their consumption. They will go to sterile yet chaotic and plain environments in which a heavy haze of sadness fills the air, as miserable people shuffle in and out and consume the wares there with no remarks, except for those squeals heard from the hopeless further bemoaning their lots in life. The food will be cheap and still not have any value, sufficient and only enough to power a body through another day of dead-eyed meandering that consists of the vocations that all these people who come must return to after they finish their barely tolerable meal.

so yeah, basically White Castle of today.
