It should be a stretch goal for the Shenmue kickstarter

Does Virtua really have so small a following outside the hardest-of-the-hardcore?

:lol

tbh i just lent out my copy of smash bros U on saturday, to two guys who are really into emo-punk, and DOTA.  they asked me at a party if i was playing it since release, and obviously i wasnt because real nintendo fans buy smash day one, and then let it collect dust when they realize it's the same shit as the last one, so i didnt mind parting with it.

in fairness the two besties who asked to borrow it are more nerdy / normcore than obese, acne slobs.

No.  Maybe?  Who knows?  Play Dead Or Alive 5 Last Round in the mean time.

Tekken 7 is pretty awesome.

The updated one is uh...

Does Virtua really have so small a following outside the hardest-of-the-hardcore?

Well, it certainly hasn't gained traction with casual fighter players: so... yeah. In a fashion. It's not "flashy" enough for casual players and the "hardcore" can't get into it's technical or something.

Never could get into VF, the roster is pretty boring (aside from having an Aboriginal Australian character, that's actually fucking awesome), not interested in learning precise frame counts, and hate the floaty jumps. Not to mention the main people I play fighting games with all hate the series (to be fair they're mostly 2D fighting fans). I own 1, 2 and 5 but I just have so much trouble getting into it...

That being said I wouldn't mind seeing a new VF but it's doubtful Sega would be willing to invest the money nowadays unless it's some pachislot thing starring Pai and Dural.

You really shouldn't be jumping in Virtua Fighter anyway. I don't know any of the "pros" that do jumps very often.

I really liked that there was a character who practiced aiki-jujutsu. The closest I can think of to that is Geese Howard who was more aikido-ish.

From my time spent with the game, it feels like a further-balanced version of TTT2 (single characters only, of course) and the added super moves fit right in and don't feel cheap.  They also added some cool slow motion effects when two characters are attacking each other with no life left at the end of a round.   All of the new characters seem pretty awesome too.  Would also say that if you didn't care for Tekken before nothing here will change your mind.

Oh, and new character Shaheen is totally Jinfash.   :P

People that have played T7 say it's a lot like Revolution with its easier movement

It has some stuff from Revolution, but it's more along the lines of TTT2 from what I can tell.  Bounds are sort of still in, for example, just totally changed up and not easily available in combos.

The super moves are like the old desperation attacks from the early SNK games.  When you have a little life left and your bar is flashing, you can do them.  They are cinematic like the Ultras in SF4.
