You should definitely make sure to watch the best Western not produced in America or Italy:'

'The Good, The Bad and the Ugly' was the first one I ever saw as a kid, so it's hard to shake that one off as my favorite.

I remember in the 80's watching all of the Clint Eastwood westerns on TBS during summers/weekends.

Destry Rides Again and The Big Country.

Disclaimer: haven't seen them in years, and for the most part they're not badass westerns like most of the others in this thread.  Destry has Marlene Deitrich in the role that Madeline Kahn spoofed in Blazing Saddles, though.

I'm not sure I've ever sat down and watched one for more than a few minutes.

High Noon is my favorite western. Basically an allegory to the communist witch hunts of the 50's.

once upon a time in the west is one of the great achievements in film making and makes even the next best western look like a throwaway popcorn flick.

duck, you sucker is criminally underrated, though.

Nick Cave actually wrote this. (And Lawless.)

And the director of it has a new film about Hermain Cain coming out: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triple_Nine_(film)

Do we count Treasure of the Sierra considered a western, because if so, it's that.  Also Giant :lawd

The Great Silence is also a great Corbucci flick.

Yep, this and The Mercenary/A Professional Gun.

Got to co-sign The Good, the Bad, & the Weird. Fun as shit. And The Assassination of Jesse James... for another modern Western.

Haven't seen enough of the US classics to really comment on. Spaghetti western is not the same thing really.
Will second The Great Silence. Not too fond of Django though, Keoma is a much better flick IMO.
High Plains Drifter finale is pretty insane, too.
