That was a cool take on a "tribal" character.  I figured it would be a Maori type after that stage reveal.

Dude also totally reminds me of Cars from JoJo's.

So crazy that none of the top 8 Marvel staples made it in this year.  Nice n' fresh!

The level of salt from the "Pro"/Gods is off the charts. SoGood.gif at their rage. If you guys were good, why weren't you in the Top-8? :smug

Yeah that's pretty much Nintendo online gaming. But it's not so bad. :P What killed it for me was latency, which might have been my fault.

So happy Smash 4 online is doable.

"Doable," yeah.  I love how I tried to team up with a friend online and it wouldn't allow us to form a team and then do matchmaking.   ::)  We had to keep searching games at the same time, then hope that if we got into the same lobby we'd be paired up.

Evo really needs to either get two main stages (didn't they do this once or twice before, or am I thinking of something else?) or find a way to do more finals on Saturday, to stop stuff from going on so late on Sunday.  Really if they just started on Thursday instead of Friday, there would be no problem.  Finals could be comfortably spaced-out between Saturday and Sunday or just go late Saturday night and nobody would mind staying up late.

I agree. Evo should just be Thurs-Sun at this rate. Too many games (which is great) too little time (which is bad) or they need to SERIOUSLY ask Microsoft/sponsors for recording software for their setups. It blows my mind there's so many "off-stream" matches that aren't recorded for people that want that. People were pissed Wong was knocked off yesterday off-stream in Marvel.

Additionally, if they make a game stay on one Stream for the whole day (Persona 4, on 3) they should just keep it on that one. Not every game needs to be on the main-stage for their finals. While nice, it's impractical if they can't set-up quickly and have people ready to go to stay "on-time." Keeping the tournaments on one stream works muuuch better for keeping things rolling. So many alternate streams, too little use after a certain day/time and they're just dead-air/offline.

Holy shit.  :lol I'm kinda glad I dodged that dook online for Tatsunoko vs Capcom then. I keep planning to pick up a copy to check it out on Dolphin since I skipped it when I owned a Wii, but that sounds bad. :lol

Was talking about Smash 4.

TvC was just barebones as fuck.  Like, you could register friends (and rivals too, IIRC), but if you wanted to play with them, both players had to go into their friends list and choose to play each other.  Zero ways to contact them in-game.  Amazingly, Nintendo, I don't have phone numbers for everyone I might add to my video game friends lists.   ::)

Why do they mostly play training stage at EVO?

Are the bgs on other stages too busy for tourney play? I felt the dinosaur stage on USFIV is too much. It's too busy and animated for a bg.

Same reason they kept playing the Tron Bonne stage in Marvel.  Has the least amount of slowdown/lag.  There are other stages like this too, though, so I always wondered why people went for training.  This is why you get people who go for training non-stop online, too, BTW.

Reasons are mostly:

-Colorblinds (Volcano stage is bad for some color blind people)
-Input lag (Training Stage has none, same reason Training Stage/Danger Room for Marvel on PS3 was used at past Evos and why Winter Wonderland in Marvel was used for this year on 360)

That last one being the major.

I think that developers should enable "tournament mode stages" in games that make the backgrounds just static...or at least have more than one BGM playing on training levels.

I wouldn't mind that. Or just cut a lot of the "fluff" of the stages out, like your static suggestion. Does anyone really pay attention to those background details? They just seem distracting.

I can understand wanting flashier backgrounds, but yeah.  Tone it down or better yet, TEST THIS SHIT and do whatever is necessary to keep the game play smooth before release.

Hmmm. I wonder if you could make a room and then open it up to non-friends.

Never thought about trying to join a room with randoms and a friend. Though TBH 4-player is hit or miss so I usually stick to 1v1.

I think that developers should enable "tournament mode stages" in games that make the backgrounds just static...or at least have more than one BGM playing on training levels.

No, those aren't static.  This may not be a problem in SFV since it will be on much more powerful hardware.

Wait, it's kinda mindblowing to me that stages in other fighting games lag. Like... what? ???

In Smash the only stage that's ever slightly been a problem has been Fountain of Dreams.

No, those aren't static.

They have (sometimes significantly) toned-down background items though. Or maybe I'm thinking of 8-player Smash...

It's the kind of lag that nobody but these top players are going to notice or even be affected by, PS3 MvC3/UMvC3 aside.
