If you got the money, defo. go. Even if you don't compete and just buy a spectator pass it's worth it for meeting people and playing casuals (if the spectator pass allows it?)

That was easily the craziest, most drama-filled final set of matches I have ever seen.  Amazing.  The stick shit at the end seriously makes the last match totally tainted for both players.

This EVO pretty much showed once and for all why Street Fighter is THE fighting game: the drama, the tactics, the match quality. All of it is there. The only game series I think is even close is Virtua Fighter and even I wouldn't say VF is better than SF because it has a higher barrier and is way too advanced for its own good. Sega really needs to make VF6 and show it off at EVO.

Eh, SF allows the basic building blocks. But the matches can be kinda boring to watch to people that don't want to see people empty "poke" their "footises" for hours. But there's a reason it's the granddaddy of the genre in a fashion.

I still feel 3rd Strike's parry-- as broken as it is-- is better than Focus Attack. I don't really care for the Focus Attack mechanic too much. But that's just me.

Yeah, I agree. It's a more versatile mechanic but the skill level barrier it adds isn't worth it imo.

It's a shame no one really played Garou, I wonder if just defend was actually any better than parrying.

Because it has no drawback other than player skill which creates a death spiral of risk aversion in competitive play.
