I dunno. It was a pretty great time to grow up for the most part. In America at least.

We had the balance between growing up without internet and the internet booming in our adolescence and adulthood. We were the last generation to know what it was like before pre-internet times and had to go to friends houses to even speak to them beyond using the phone. We were the last generation to do things, and yet among the first to do many other things.

Plus, cartoons were totally better in the 90's, so we lucked out.

Love the 90's in terms of popular media... when I think of my favorite games, movies, and especially music... the 90's keeps coming up. I even loved the early days of the 'net, when it was still a 'nerd' thing. I threw a 90's themed party last year and everyone had an absolute blast.

The 2000's were a pretty shit decade though here in the states. Terrorism, unwinnable wars, housing crash / depressed economy, rapidly growing inequality, 8 years of neoconservative control, the rise of minimal techno.

The 2010's definitely seems better on the political side of things but it also seems even more willing to mine nostalgia than previous decades so a lot of it doesn't feel 'new'. Apart from everyone's constant obsession with their mobile devices. I guess electronic dance music FINALLY breaking in America is cool, and it's also cool to see positive growth with regards to progressive social issues.

Yeah, 90's were full of government and societal cynicism. What's funny is that 9/11 America became LESS cynical after the fact and 10's America is some weird place where everyone lives in a bubble of optimism and doesn't think a lot of things are worth fighting for.

It was pretty good to be 18-21 during 1992-1995. Lots of good music and movies in that time frame. The only other comparable time period during my lifetime would have been 82-85.

I agree, but as a hip hop fan there's no need to be stuck in the 90s. Lot of good stuff out there nowadays, but it takes more effort to find it and when I'm lazy I don't keep up (

The 90s have been pretty much mined for good hip hop so it's easier to find stuff that may have been rare then. Lot of good YouTube classic hip hop channels all about diggin' in the crates type content.

But overall, the 90s saw some incredible artists peaking in quality (Wu-Tang :'() with content that has yet to be surpassed.
