There was talk about how a lot of people are unfamiliar with the name Battletech but are familiar with the name Mechwarrior, and so maybe the Kickstarter should've used that branding. I definitely fall into that category but I know it's the same universe, but yeah...food for thought.
I'm not sure they could use the word MechWarrior, as it seems there's a ridiculous legal clusterfuck involved around this franchise. Besides, a turn based isometric game is definitely closer to the original board games than either the RPG and mech piloting games. If I understood correctly, PGI (who does Mechwarrior Online) will collaborate with them to let them use their assets (Mech models).
Campaign is currently at 1,4m $ with a lot of days to go, so at this point the full promised single player campaign should be pretty much in the bag. Some says that they would prefer not the PvP to be a distraction but given that the original board game is PvP, it would be a bit sad not to have that.
I like the art they have so far.
