Meh Dre's albums suck outside of Straight Outta Compton. Also isn't Compton basically a Korean neighborhood now? Is this new album going to sound like an Avatar O.S.T?

I really can't get the pulse of this board when it comes to Dre. ITT Chronic is overrated, and people cape for subpar unreleased 2001-era Dre beats. In the Hip Hop topic, people act like The Blueprint's production holds up better than 2001.

It's not just delusional fans. It's hip hop media and mythology as well. I don't hate Dre, I think he has made some really good music and he has a great ear for music. But I also think he's one of the most overrated producers in hip hop. And if you clown Kanye - which I and many of us do - you should clown Dre for virtually the same reasons. Nearly every memorable Dre beat you can think of was largely produced by someone else, and he has largely been a corporate entity for quite some time who stamps his name on the work of others. I'm down with this production for the most part, but some of these features and how Dre sounds now are eh.

It's real different, not sure what I expected tbh.

Wasn't expecting a song about having a German work ethic to also contain chain-gang harmonies. Also I appreciate that this is so CAC friendly that i don't need rap genius to understand the songs.

The album is alright. It's very over produced, you can tell more cooks are in the kitchen than usual. Sometimes it works, such as the beat switches. Other times it just feels like a mess. Rap wise Dre continues to rap like whoever is writing for him, and sometimes it works and sometimes it's just ugly. He's a lot more up temp and fast throughout the album.

Not a fan of King Mez and Ice Cube's verse was weak. Kendrick does his thing, especially on Deep Water. Jon Conner is amazing, even The Game comes through with a dope performance. Singing wise I fux with Anderson Paak.

This doesn't sound like a "Dre" album. More often than not it doesn't have that typical west coast sound either, so I'd imagine many older fans will be turned off. There's trap shit mixed with all types of stuff. Animals, Talking To My Diary, For The Love Of Money, and Deep Water are standout tracks imo.

btw the skits are really bad. Especially Loose Cannon. Sounds like a some corny Eminem shit.
