How come I never see these people bitching about how Anne Frank's diary was censored so that we could never read about her fingering herself.

I always make sure to add "NeoGAF contributor" on my resume under Accomplishments

Doesn't really come up, though, as most NeoGAF mods are successful professionals in other fields, or are already respected members of the gaming industry or press.

i look over resumes for community managers all the time and if i saw a webforum moderator on one i would probably throw it in the trash. a moderator doesn't necessarily know how to talk to someone like a human being.

Then again, EL didn't really create NeoGAF from the ground up. He just bought it at the right time.

Thread: More Changes to Bravely Second in the West View Single Post

Square Enix may have heard the howls of outrage from western feminists over the Tomb Raider "attempted sexual assault" scene and decided to remove all sexual overtones from Bravely Second.

Honestly, it will become as bad as in the anime Shimoneta: A Boring World Where the Concept of Dirty Jokes Doesn't Exist.

Appeasing those who oppose titillation on the grounds it might cause offence is not the way to go. One might tritely suggest that slapping a 'trigger warning' label on the box would be sufficient."

Is Parfait the gaffer formerly known as icecream?

I actually thought Bravely Default was supposed to be a good JRPG and I was thinking I should get around to playing it some time.

But that sequel art is quite off-putting.

But that sequel art is quite off-putting.

The first half was great, the second half almost ruins it by resorting to some extremely cheap asset reuse. Still, the job system is the standout here, even if the dungeon design could have been a bit more interesting.

Anyways, seems like the Bravely Second censorship is doing a bit more than simply covering up revealing outfits on chibi lolis... seems that sidequests which normally had multiple outcomes have all been simplified to have a single one. Not sure why this would be done but it's giving me mid 90's RPG censorship flashbacks where a lot of things were cut on the domestic release and not just sex/religion/controversial things.

it's a forum on which people concede to not caring about multiple e. coli outbreaks from chipotle, on which people make fun of a $30 italian food meal because it doesn't look like a lot of food, on which there is more excitement about how food looks in video games than in real life, and on which numerous contributors are relieved about the concept of a tasteless, colourless slurry that provides the bare minimum of nutrition and you're taking packaged food advice from them

They're not bad.  The flavor packets were fairly salty/spicy, if I remember.  But good.  I would mix like 1/2 of a packet and add some diced chicken breast and sriracha.  Someone mentioned putting a raw egg on top and the heat/steam would cook it pretty quickly, but I never tried that.

This is going to be long, just a warning.

I've been thinking of writing about this for the last few days but I hesitated because I hate sharing problems like this, everyone has problems but... I just need to vent.

I am 28, I live at home with my parents who are older (Mother mid 60's, Father 70s) and originally I had planned to go back to school this coming summer or fall, I quit retail last October in order to help to take care of them as well as get us moved (more on that later) and as I said to go back to school.

I will admit, I've been lazy. I largely haven't done much of anything since I quit work to get us ready to move, I've been taking care of them and taking care of our condo the best I can but I really could have done a lot more, I enjoyed not having to worry about work and retail after working it for nearly a decade and I just haven't done enough and now I wish I had.

I am facing multiple issues and damn well near no solution in sight and I just don't know what to do. We wanted to move because the place we are living in is just not being taken care of (we rent a condo), the basement has had flooding problems since August of last year and it still hasn't been fixed so any time it rains hard it floods into the hall of the basement (its a finished basement) and we have to get people to come out and clean up the carpet, I really don't want to go into this to much since its right now the least of my problems but the home owners association has just been the worst at dealing with it so we planned to move this month (March) which is certainly not going to happen.

The condo's problems aside we are no where near ready to move, I have a shit ton of things I would need to do to get us to a position where we could move which by itself wouldn't be a problem but then you have my parents.

This is where things get personal, I love my parents but I truly feel like they have put me into the worst possible situation and I feel like I'm losing my damn mind.

Both of them are hoarders, we have an entire room filled largely with junk they haven't seen or used since before we even moved to the state we live in now (that was a decade ago) and if I try to throw away anything its an instant battle. We have a Christmas tree that is massively tall that my mother used to set up but she is incapable of setting it up anymore (more on this later) and she refuses to get rid of it and if I even attempt to bring it up she throws a fit. My dad isn't any better his room has boxes he hasn't even unpacked for the 2 years we've been at this place and he owns more clothes then I and my mother combined and most of which he hasn't worn in DECADES and I'm not exaggerating about any of this not even slightly. My dad and I almost got into a physical fight when I threw away some cereal that no one was eating and was expired. I deal with this every day, my mother is ashamed of how the place looks (she won't let anyone inside) but they make it incapable of me to actually get anything done because every time is a battle, at this point they just want to move and somehow magically take everything with them when the condo is a fucking disaster area.

All of that has been enough to make me give feel like giving up on ever getting out of this place but this last week has been absolutely miserable.

My mother has a lot of problems, shes a smoker, an alcoholic, she likely has major depression (she has 6 of 7 symptoms of it and was diagnosed with it in the past), the most combative person I have ever met (She argues with me and my father about EVERYTHING), and is in complete denial about ALL of that and to top it off she has neuropathy. For those who don't know it makes her hands and feet feel pain and in her case also causes her to have problems walking. Those problems came full front last week when she fell, she wasn't hurt badly and we got her up okay but she fell 2 more times that day. My dad and I figured out it was her smoking that was causing her legs to become weak and she would basically collapse every time (this was a new development). The next day we forced her to quit smoking because we didn't know what else to do, I took away her cigarettes and bought her some of the nicotine gum and patches to try and help her, she had hidden away 1 pack and managed to sneak and tried to smoke again (it made her fall again) and even after taking that away she ended up falling another 2 times that day (6 in total) both days I wanted to get her to a hospital because I was worried that she hurt herself and second because I think there is something legitimately wrong with her and she needs help, that didn't happen (even though when we called her doctor he told us to get her to a hospital) because my mother refused. As I said she is combative and she would yell and scream and kept telling me she wasn't going to go, this went on and on every time she fell those two days.

We ended up not going, and still haven't because tomorrow she has an appointment with her neurologist (the same one whose office told us to take her to the hospital last week) who I am praying to god will tell her she needs to go to a hospital or at least give us some idea of what the hell we need to do. Since shes stopped smoking she is drinking even more (she has an odd sleep schedule) she drinks from the moment she wakes up (3-5 am) until she goes to bed (around 7pm at night, she does take naps during the day at random points) and like today she was completely drunk before noon, combined with her neuropathy she is not stable at all on her feet (she has a walker but half the time she doesn't want to use it) and has fallen several more times over the last 3 days. The worst part about her drinking is that she is a very angry drunk and combined with her combative personality she is damn well near impossible to deal with, she yells and screams about anything she doesn't like to hear and if shes not doing that she thinks we just want to put her into a home and forget she exists and is guilting us for ever suggesting she try and go to a hospital or nursing home to get her help. This is only made worse by her depression which just makes her sit around and do nothing all day every day, she sits in her chair and watches old movies, she goes to bed and lays down and watches old movies, she doesn't even try to cook, clean, or anything else anymore she eats 1 meal a day and as I said, drinks heavily.

So we come to today, where knowing all of that she also hasn't taken a shower for nearly a month (at least 3 weeks which she debates but she doesn't even remember how many times shes fallen) and since she is going to see a doctor tomorrow she has to take a shower but of course she wants to be clean but at the same time doesn't want to take a shower (shes fallen in the shower before and is scared to, combined with her depression or what I assume is depression shes just refused to do anything). We tried to get her to take a shower early on (before she was to drunk to be incapable of doing it) but right when we tried to she pitched a fit for over half an hour and by that point she was completely smashed and wanted to go to bed, which she struggled getting to.

I have been patient and understanding but I'm terrified shes going to fall and break her hip while I'm asleep so I've barely been sleeping myself (I live downstairs in the basement and I hear every movement she makes when shes awake and it has distracted me from sleeping for the last 3 days) and If I even try to be forceful with her about anything she doesn't listen to me and just pitches a fit (fit is a huge understatement, she yells and screams, tells me I'm wrong, tells me I'm lying to her, ect its endless). I would love to just take away her alcohol but if I do that then she will start to detox and she just shakes uncontrollably and thats not even mentioning how nasty and hateful she would be at me for doing that (not to mention how hard on her it would be since shes already not smoking).

So right now my dad and I are losing our minds, she is impossible to take care of because of how she acts and how heavily she drinks and is in complete denial about all of the problems she has (she flat out doesn't think she has depression despite being diagnosed with it after her father died a few years ago) and now with her neuropathy seeming to get worse and her falling more I just don't know what to do, were just trying to make it until tomorrow to see what her doctor says but just getting her to take a shower has been a massive battle.

I know she needs help, serious help but I've tried to talk to her about it as has her mother, my father, and the rest of her family but she doesn't want to hear it and if we try to bring it up at all she just yells and screams or makes us out to be trying to get rid of her, its really awful because all we want to do is to help her and get her better but she won't let us at all and she never gets passed it, there is never that moment where she realizes were right, she just thinks were all crazy and out to get her.

So now my dad and I are facing the idea that we may have to have her put into a hospital/nursing home/something else for an extended stay if its even possible she would agree to go to one (at least a few weeks or months if rehap will help her legs get better and detox her and help her with her depression) which we in no way can afford and even if we could we still face the situation with the house and trying to move and there just doesn't seem to be any hope of any of it right now.

I really don't know if I've expressed the stress I'm under and why I felt the need to type all this out and just vent (I've been typing this up for well over an hour) or if I can really explain how very hateful and vile my mother is when shes drunk (which is all of the time) but I still love her with all of my heart and soul and just want her to get better and try and get her back to how she used to be. She wasn't always like this, she could be mean and combative but the way shes been with the drinking the last year or so has be horrible and not smoking has made it 10x worse... I just don't know what to do for her anymore and even if I did know what to do I don't think she would even let me try.

I know that this was long and I really don't know if any advice will really help (I've tried damn well near everything) but I think I needed to vent and get this out, so at the very least thank you for that Gaf.

The power of GAF threads. I ordered 24 packets of these Nongshim Shin Ramyun Black noodles because of this thread:

(Image removed from quote.)

At about $2 dollars a pack these better be the promised land of instant ramen.

I am definitely going to try adding an egg or two.

How about veggies? Anyone add more veggies to their instant ramen?

I really wish I weren't banned so I could make an Andrew Breitbart 4th-year R.I.P anniversary thread on GAF
 :letsfukk
Still no investigation.

Not even into the M.E.'s mysterious death immediately after.

No need for an investigation when we already know who did it. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

It's insane.
Microsoft doing things literally causing people to go crazy.

> Windows 10 exclusive
> Port of a 360 title that's not really "totally rebuilt"
> Insane specs for said remaster
> Windows/X-box Live store exclusive only

Expecting people to not backlash at that is insanity.

Yeah that is the one

How fucking lazy can you be to eat so much ramen.

It's not even that hard to cook a proper meal.

Lately my lazy meal has been getting a vegetable burger from the supermarket, and a can of beans.

Cook the burger for 5 minutes so both sides are brown, warm the beans for a few minutes, done. Less than 10 minutes of cooking. Vastly more nutritious than ramen and probably a bit less sodium. I also cook everything in one saucier so the cleanup is minimal.

And really I'd rather not even bother with cooking if my only choice were some shitty ramen. You can eat beans straight from the can. Still more nutritious than ramen. :lol

Now, now I wasn't planning on* eating ramen every day. Just on occasion when cooking feels like to much of a chore.

I do eat a lot of beans actually.

*planning on
