Omg!!??! What is wrong with you people? "If I were to buy every skin..."? Why would you buy every skin? I've spent $160 in loot boxes with the screens shown earlier in this thread and I have enough skins for every character I think has a decent skin except for one. That is the equivalent to 221 in game levels (maybe ~200 hours played).

The problem is that I am starting to see is that the minute a developer gates something as progression, players turn into ravenous morons. A developer could just give different color hair in-game and based on this whole debate, if the developer locked it behind progression you'd have people bitching "I should get hair colors faster", "they should offer more colors", "it only took me 10 hours to get all of the hair, now what", "I can't believe I can't choose from any of the hair I want until I play this game for 10 hours."

No matter how trivial a developer makes it, lock it behind progression and the players become a pack of wolves howling how unfair it is. Putting an optional money component from the looks doesn't even make it worse, because people act the same stupid way in every other game that does it without money. The money component just means people who don't get hung up on this shit can bypass it, and provide revenue for future content.

Will it though? Blizzard hasn't gone F2P on any of their most recent games despite putting in obvious F2P hooks in all of them. Instead they offer gimpy trial versions and assume itll be enough to convert you to a full user, which given that they haven't stopped it must work well enough.
