Crash Bandicoot has aged a lot better than most platformers in that generation. Its the closest thing to classic Mario platforming but in 3D, whereas SM64 was the best 3D platformer of that gen and all time. 

Crash doesn't need to come back at all though, there were four normal Crash games and bunch of shitty spin offs, the franchise has run its course.
