I was at a tech conference this last week (more posts about it coming in a few) but I helped a friend with a session about women in tech. It's at the point of the election where the crazy and the stupid kick into overdrive.  I've been on a media blackout for the past two months because it's nothing but nonsense until a couple weeks after the elections.  YAS QUEEN bullshit will be even less tolerable from here on out, if that were even possible.

Edit: The only exception will be the debates but I'm sure I can catch countless streams of them.  I just don't give a fuck what Chuck Todd or George Stephanopoulos have to say about current events.

I mean the bold is what I'm arguing as the general theme. GAF has these members like Slay and some of the BCT regulars that not-so-subtlety want to call you racist because 1) you're not black and 2) you don't agree with them on something that is a "black issue" that you don't think is a really huge deal as they do.  Just got an email of one of Jason's tweets that links to an article that claims Valve and Facebook need to quadruple their investments into "diversity".

 The article doesn't offer a solution to promote diversity and it seems like a confusing proposition.

 First, because I'm not sure how they'd exactly promote diversity with VR that would call for a dedicated budget. I'd imagine if they wanted to be seen as diverse they'd just use a non-White male set of actors in presentations/videos/billboards which, due to the unfortunate realities of minority actors, might actually cost less.

 Second, because I'm not exactly sure why this is needed. I mean, it would be cool and effective to see a diverse group of people using VR, but not exactly as a PR stunt to cover a feigned backlash against the VR industry. People don't really know Luckey, Oculus, or about this entire situation. So essentially they're calling for companies, even those not involved in this situation, to take money out of dev costs out of their own volition and into a nebulous "diversity w/ VR" fund for a nontroversy about a techie libertarian funding an anti-Hillary organization.
