Seriously though. Not a good look for a black person to bring up victim cards. You sound like Don Lemon or Ben Carson, dude. Are there cases where people take it too far? Yeah, you bet your ass. But that's what happens when you have to live your life on the defensive. Some people are going to be wrong, but it's your job as a black person to support them and explain to them in a more rational and caring manner. Or at least, try to understand why they're mad. Instead, you're throwing entirely valid black opinions under the bus, because you disagree with them, and argue them away as playing the victim.
I don't disagree with that.
However: "Some people are going to be wrong, but it's your job as a black person to support them and explain to them in a more rational and caring manner." This is where you and I seem to have some disagreements. You (read: the online black community/Black Community Thread on GAF) think being on the offensive and yelling that someone that doesn't necessarily 100% agree nor disagree is "racist" for not being on the #blacklivesmatter train is a good idea (note: I haven't even read past this post going two pages back, so please don't think I'm putting words in your mouth here. Just go with me here.) Whereas, I feel the complete opposite. Like I said: Once you make the issue an "US vs THEM" war, that's where you lose me (the THEM) and I'm pretty sure a bunch of other people. Like you said, people should be explaining this rationally, but a lot (IMO) aren't. And that's what's hurting IMO the black community more than the apathetic people.
I can see racist issues and I can see the issues that black people face. Especially coming from a background of knowing quite a few black people from high-school and the issues they face in the south along with their daily lives. But, like I said: going on the offensive and declaring anyone that is "against" or not fully on-board with the #blacklivesmatter movement because they may disagree with the methods or reasonings or whatever... racist... no, dear. *shakes head* I can't get on board with that.
Also Wrath, damn you. I thought Mods PM'd me like I asked. I can't be assed to go back further than three pages for this. So if you guys called me racist, then: what-the-fuck-ever. *shrug*
