God of War has realistic dialogue.
The criticism Life is Strange is getting is so autistic it almost mentally breaks me. The main point people love to trumpet is "they don't talk like teenagers at all."
If the characters talked and acted like typical teenagers, that would be the most boring shit possible. In highschool, you only really knew your friends. Anyone else and you would bullshit with them, talk about any funny or dumb rumors about other people, there was very little character building or bonding in school.
And the funny thing is, stereotypes exist but they aren't stereotypes depicted in fiction. Dudes into sports and getting laid would do steroids and talk about how chocolate milk helps them during working out. A lot of nerdy latino kids would be into Naruto and One Piece. The chicks that were considered skinny and fuckable had a ton of mental issues and would abuse prescription drugs.
If a story about highschool or school doesn't have any tropey characters or its own sterotypes in the story, its going to be dry, boring, spaghetti on the wall shit.
The nerd spergs on neogaf paint highschool as some super nuanced and complex socialization pit. It isn't. Teenagers are going to do their own thing relative to that year or exact time. They also fail to realize Life is Strange takes place in a super cushy private academy, the majority of all adults went to public school. Alternative or private schools have very different moods and atmosphere compared to a public school.
TL:DR, Gaffers somehow think their experiences or the lack thereof was the typical highschool experience and that naturally being a teenager is automatically some deep, nuanced, stage of life and everyone is a unique snowflake.
