I don't know. I don't think it's necessary the mark of professionalism to be completely flexible on things like your normal business hours. I mean, sure, if you've got a lot of patrons that you're going to have to turn away due to a strict adherence to a sign posted on the door laying out normal hours of business, then it may indeed be worth your while to to ignore protocol and accommodate paying customers. After all, there's money to be made there. But making several employees stick around after hours just because a couple of stragglers waltzed in right at closing doesn't necessarily strike me as a requisite for being a worthwhile business.

It's a judgement call. Exceptions can assuredly be made, but sometimes employees have places to be. Not everyone is a sub-minimum wage waiter/waitress. Some of them are paid hourly. It costs money to keep the lights on. I don't think it's automatically bad business for management to say "sorry folks, the kitchen's closed, but we'd love it if you came back during normal business hours." And if you find yourself in a position where you would regularly be turning away a decent sized crowd based on the current hours of operation, maybe it's time to just officially move closing time back? I can't speak for everyone else, but I really don't want to be that guy who is making people stick around on my account. If it's 5 minutes 'til closing time at place A, instead of waltzing in and seeing if I can still get food/drinks, I'm probably just going to try to find another place that's officially open later.

"sorry folks, the kitchen's closed, but we'd love it if you came back during normal business hours."

And thats when you point at the sign and say you arrived during business hours.

Look, I agree, some flexibility is required. If theres a blizzard and its a Tuesday night and the whole area is dead, yeah, pack up early and out up a sign explaining that due to conditions youre closing early.

But if you plan on closing at 10 then your business plan should absolutely include staffing well past that.

You dont open at 5pm and then turn people away who walk in at 5:01pm because your staff just started and it takes them 30 minutes to prep.

The customer facing hours are for the customer. Its up to you to schedule internally what that means.

Its the job of the business owner to set expectations. Closing at 10pm doesnt mean you get to go home at 10pm, ever.

If it looks busy and like they're still serving food and drinks, I would inquire as to whether or not I can still get a meal. If the sign says they close at 10, I don't assume that everyone is literally going to be out the door right at 10 o'clock. But I assume that they're shutting down soon. I'm not going to waltz in there and think that I can order multiple rounds of drinks and a meal of appetizers, an entree, and dessert because I beat the buzzer by getting seated before the place was officially supposed to close. At best, I'd assume that maybe I could order one drink and a simple appetizer or something.

Theres a reason so many small businesses dont last.

They come in with their entitlement, and they fail.

If they want to make money, they have to work for it.

Whats better for their bottom line?
a) One drink + app + me never coming back + 1 star yelp review
b) A full five course meal + multiple drinks + rave reviews + me bringing all my friends

It's their choice.

Theres plenty of competition in the big city. Theyre not doing me a favor by seating me at 9:55pm. Theyre trying to get my to hand over fat wads of cash.

But say that place didn't have a two hour wait time. Let's say the last customers in the place were signing their receipts and finishing their drinks and about to clear out and you rolled in at 10:55 for a table five minutes before closing time. Do you think they would have been as flexible and cordial then?

Absolutely.

Theres a reason some businesses have 5 star yelp averages and others sit at 3.

Professionalism.

Restaurant industry is all about reputation. Turning someone down because you can be bothered to serve them is a fast track to being out of business.

Of course that's not Dominos business model. Their business model is "we're the only place in this god-forsaken suburb open past 9pm AND who delivers so fuck you"

They can average 1 star and still get business because they have a delivery monopoly.

I have no love for Snyder but anyone actually reading the bio of Snyder's wife (or even that resume) will understand that Zack & Deborah are both making their strides together in the movie industry and she didn't have any prior clout with majors. It's actually a pretty ugly sentiment but I guess it's par for the course when you're looking at simplistic reasons to complex problems like producing super expensive movies and running a studio.

People who are saying "back in my days we used to get the game after 5 years" should really stop saying that. I thought we are going to progress forward not backwards. Many japanese games have silmutaneous release. And since DS1 and DS2 had a silmutaneous release no shit we expect the same for the supposedly final game of the series not a royal fuck up. Women didn't vote 100 years ago what are they going to say yeah who cares for discrimination we didn't even voted 100 years ago at least things are better now? He's saying this baby shit now, but he shit on Dark Souls 2 like it was a Devil May Cry 2 type of sequel. I hope Dark Souls 3 was "ruined" for him because he can't have fun with a videogame without making the videogame to be a once in a lifetime spectacle.

Do these fucking idiots realize game testers and other people in production will see and play the game before anyone else? What's gonna be spoiled for Dark Souls 3? A character cameo or cryptic "storytelling"?

These people's lives are so empty or they somehow learned such pettiness that the "community aspect of discovery" in a action RPG game warrants this much crying and bitching.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, it seems that this gen of gamers are concerned about everything in a game (fps, resolution, is the pose too sexy? is the character too frumpy? Do they have any blasian transgendered socialist characters, and if not, why the fuck not?) except for whether the game is fun or not, which in the end is the only thing that matters. Who cares what gender Link is. Is the game fun or not? I swear it's like judging a board game by the pictures on the cards.

That Female Link thread.
People so against a female link on the basis of super minor male/female interactions in Zelda. I guess I could understand if you took a minor blush or a wink from a woman as an invitation to fuck and held on to that notion for years later. I guess that can translate into minor interactions within a videogame too as meaningful relationships. Still, lmao Link characterization, foh.  :lol

Nintendo fans treat franchises like they're bibles. God forbid Link is a girl or woman in a mainline Zelda game, or Samus gets replaced with someone else in the Metroid franchise.
It makes sense. A lot of ninthings do seem to come from very conservative religious backgrounds. :doge

It's kinda weird to me how asking for a localized Vita version (when a Japanese Vita version exists) is ban-worthy, yet nearly every single console-exclusive game thread will have the PC gamers begging (even more so if it's a Japanese game).

I generally hate mobile but everything I see about RS2 is mobile done right - premium price no IAP bullshit, attractive sprite art, a genre that doesn't rely on precision controls
