A wonderful feature for GAF Gold would be to un-creepify all posts by people with waifu avatars.

"Don't look at YouTube comments!!!" are by far my favorite smugpost.

Dearest immature readers, I have taken the BRAVE journey and witnessed MYSELF the horrid and fracturing words placed under the video linked here.  Suffice it to say I continued to read and read the horrible words that are now emblazoned upon my memory by the unreformable monsters who left such vile statements. The more I scrolled, the more I read these horrible statements left by invisible nonexistent creatures, and the sooner I found myself required to return to the haven of.... other nonexistent yet logical enlightened beings to warn you: to gaze upon this filth is perhaps to look into the abyss. I am lost. Keep me in your thoughts as I shall soon expire.

I am in hopes a person I saved will create a thread as I lay dying, my heart perhaps comforted by the momentous abbreviation: RIP.

Dumb question, but was he really serious about that GafGold remark or is it just the running gag ?
SomethingAwful has 190k paid members (for a one time 10$ fee) while Neogaf has 170k free ones, realistically how many are willing to do the transition ? For a forum with not so robust servers & amateur moderation ? Anything over 12$ a year would seem obscenely expensive (well anything above 0 if you ask me, but heh). Not certain the profit margin on that would be worth the hassle.

Not that it matters anyway. GAF may be declining but I'm sure that cow got a few years worth of milk whatever the economic model, if you're willing to settle for making decent (not luxurious) revenue out of it.

HUGE :expert INCOMING

If we assume Evilore straight up rips off Lowtax:

I'd say it's a safe bet that 10% of those 170,000 will get a GAF Gold account.  If you take the SA tenbux model, thats $170,000 right then and there.

I'd say it's a safe bet that 5% of them will likely buy another $10 upgrade per year, like an avatar or a signature.  So that is another $85,000 a year of passive income.

Then there are about 1% of them that would be heavy users of GAF's crap, like buying signatures for others and other dumb crap.  Assume they will spend $50 a year.  That's another $85,000 a year in passive income.

Then there's about 0.1% of them that will be super heavy users because GAF is their life.  They will think nothing of spending $100 a year on stupid shit.  That's another $17,000 where Evilore does jack shit.

Overall, Evilore could be looking at a decent low six figure income by going the GAF Gold route, around $200k or so based off of my dumb estimates.  Of course, this is no good for Evilore who assumed he would be a multimillionaire by the time he was 30 from GAF.  Sorry but life isn't fair but he still gets to make great money by sitting on his ass, groping European women, and pretending to be an MMA expert in Thailand; not a bad deal overall for him.  He can make good money for probably the next 10 years depending on the top 5% of gaffers who have more money than sense.  There were plenty of gaffers who donated money to Amir0x's drug fund; it will be even easier to justify buying a signature and an avatar for $20.

Nooooooo I got banned before having a chance to be a Gold member.

I always wanted to see my name in gold.
did you end up eating a perma?   :heh

Yes.

I had gotten a string of small bullshit bans followed by a perm warning so I pretty much knew someone wanted to get rid of me.

That seems to be the MO for getting rid of the old guard who aren't so deferential to the mods and can remember how things were.

It is a shame that someone on there is so determined to get rid of the long time posters that made the forum fun to read, like Phoenix Dark.

Shame really, I enjoyed posting on there and was hoping to still be able to post there when I got my new PC rig.

At least you got a perm warning.  You'd think that would be standard for long time members unless they posted something REALLY fucked up.

right now Neogaf is in that group of sites that are there but ignored like S.A. and Fark
(except for people to mock) They don't have experts or anything flashy to keep up with other social media sites.

It would be better for him to keep a small dedicated set of users dumb enough to pay.

I keep saying, if he was smart, he'd monetize bans. Dennis would pay up to bring his account back. All the NeoFeggits would low key pay him so they could reverse their permas and troll the libcucks.
Another monetization opportunity would be the ability to buy and write custom tags for users you despise a la Something Awful. :doge

:lol

You basically just want GAF to be a ripoff of SA.

Well I guess it works. GAF does have a large pedo-cabal that have gotten more and more open with time. Maybe Opiate can resume being a mod?

I guess that is my point: Evilore is better off depending on a small set of paying members.  Traffic has been declining in the past three years so it isn't like there is room for growth here.  Better to just find ways for his shrinking base to hand over more cash.  It's probably a better idea than relying on an ad network that gives people malware warnings.

I'd rather buy one system than two.

If the 3DS and Wii U were one system it would have had a pretty stellar library overall. :yeshrug

I just hope they don't price themselves out of the market. 3DS showed $250 for a handheld is DOA. There might be a little more leeway here since it can also be sold as a home system, but if it was $200 I think it'd have a decent showing.

If it launches with Zelda, Smash 4 and Mario Kart that'd be cool.

Too much unknown shit to really say at this point. What I'm personally excited about is being able to play the next Monster Hunter and Pokemans both anywhere I want and also on my big screen, without having to buy two SKUs and do save transferring like MH3U. That part's gonna be pretty baller at least. :obama

How many people on NeoGAF actually see themselves as SJWs or GamerGaters?

I imagine very, very few. Most people just want to talk about games and joke around in the Off-Topic.

Suddenly everyone just seemed to get a stick up their butt. Either you were a saint or the worst scum ever.

And a lot of the mods were as much on board with the occasional Hot Woman thread as I was but now it is like "no no, we don't like that sort of thing"

Come the fuck on, people can remember.... you ain't saints either.

Petty much this.

I was also continuously banned for very bullshit reasons. I think I earned  2 or 3  legit bans tops (and not even that. One was for making a spoiler in a GoT show thread that had a detail from the book, while explicitly saying the spoiler was a detail from the book. I felt like I could do it since another guy did the very same thing before me. Guess who did and who didn't get banned). The rest were actually like: "we've looked on your history and we'll assume everything you say has ill intent".

The narrative has been set up pretty clear, and I think there's no going back. While people like angelus errare can make honestly demeaning posts towards other uses every single day and after being banned over... 16 times still only gets a biweekly ban, others fall rather quickly as soon as they deviate from the consensus. This consensus is normally called the hivemind.

And then you have the whole Hot ryu, showing the double standards they have. It's so wrong to have a nipple normal map on a woman with clothes on SFV (I think it was cammy), yet Ryu going all open chest with nipples is deserving of a fanbase cult. It's like they need to be against every aspect that was established in society just to be cool. Dunno, it feels pretty silly.

PD: Greetings everyone.

It could work like a laptop dock: Holds a chip in there that interfaces with a port on the handheld to override the handheld's chip to power the system instead. Would be a bitch to code for two different power levels, but essentially the idea is noble/novel.

Being able to take your system with you with your games and have them be similar in graphics/gameplay would be a boon. I know a lot of people said the Vita proved this isn't what people want, but nah: If you were able to merge console games like Mario with Handheld games like Pokemon, it'd work fabulously.

The way I can imagine it working is the dock has some extra hardware power that scales the res to 1920x1080 when you're playing it on TV. So in handheld mode it's playing at 960x540 or some shit. I guess it could mean you could buy a future upgrade to the dock that scales games to 4k.

But it seems kind of expensive. I don't see it working at all. Worst of both worlds, basically.

Nintendo is dead. Really dead this time. :doge

I don't think the dock will have extra power. I do think the handheld will render at 960x540 (or some above-480p, sub-720p res) and the dock will render 1080p, but it'll probably achieve that with unlocking a CPU core or up-clocking on the handheld. I can see Nintendo underclocking it in handheld mode for heat/battery reasons.

Also we don't even have a ballpark for how expensive it is, so cool your tits there. :ufup

I'm wondering, did you actually redact some of your posts before hitting submit? I know that's what I did when I was close to permaban. Still didn't help because I had a rule "don't post in OT, and for sure don't post into minorities/gender threads" and I broke it.

It's pretty sad to see how the figure of the moderation team became a full-fledged inspection on  overall behavior (no doubt with people ratting through reports. The mods have certain people they trust and value, if those don't want you, you're gone, as per the Besada PM leak incident).

Moderators are supposed to keep discussion civil, not actually get in the middle of conversations between users, specially when they constantly hint they can give you a vacation.

How in the fuck did Besada not get demodded for that, I will never understand. It was scandalous.

That should've been the Benghazi of GAF.

I mean,

that should've been the Hilary's leaked emails of GAF.

that should've been the watergate of GAF

that should've been the gamergate of GAF

that should've been the oral office gate of GAF

that should've been the JFK assasination of GAF

that should've been the Wikileaks DNC emails of GAF

you get the idea

You're all about to get that Clockwork Orange treatment here, soon you'll be contributing members of society.

Things we accomplished:

- Got Fistful laid
- Revealed Phoenix Dark to be a white woman with a penchant for nibbling black penis heads
- Exorcised a vengeful ghost from Bebpo's relationship

Also we don't even have a ballpark for how expensive it is, so cool your tits there. :ufup
My tits are quite cool and nipples erect, thank you

If they bundle it with Zelda as a Premium edition at 350 I'd think about it

Tyler's denial? According to him, Besada was a victim.

A victim who admitted to, in cooperation with other moderators, go after certain individuals to get them banned.
A victim who confessed to let people that are either minority/defending minorities hardcore off the loop of the usual 7/8 ban cycle.

The problem through the site owner's perspective was a breach of trust from the user.

It's pretty sad.

As if Nintendo stans' day couldn't get any worse, their old rival Sega announced that it's planning to release a Genesis mini, packed with a whopping 80 games.

That device has been on the market for a while. It's trash and filled with flipphone-era mobile games.

The NX seems like a really cool idea that will bomb incredibly hard. Its hard to tell if this was a niche console that will make its money back to due to its high price and how many dedicated Nintendo fans buy it, versus it being a complete hail mary in a market where there's zero innovation with hardware.

Excited to see the price and thing itself.
