We'll be going from roughly 5 gigaflops in the 3DS to roughly 500 with the X1.

I don't care if that's inaccurate or they downclock it to save power or whatever - it's clear that this is going to be one of the greatest tech leaps between generations of a device ever.

I absolutely loved the anime, but the manga also disappointed me. I think it was a manga first, but the anime adaptation took liberties to make it more interesting.

I love Planetes; hard science fiction is right up my alley. I haven't read the manga, so I don't know the differences between the mediums, but the anime is beautiful with consistent animation, wonderful music, and a good story. Give it a chance.

There are other great modern anime: Redline, Hunter x Hunter 2011, Sword of the Stranger, Psycho-Pass, Gundam Build Fighters, Iron Blooded Orphans, Baccano!, and Black Lagoon, to name a few. Don't let nostalgia skew your view.
