Jesus, Don't Let Me Die Before I've Had Sex

Quote
In the forthcoming documentary Give Me Sex Jesus, the filmmakers Matt Barber and Brittany Machado tell personal stories of struggle from within the Evangelical Christian community to remain sexually pure until marriage. In this excerpt from the film, we meet Chris Bright, who grew up gay in one of the world's most famous Evangelical families. It is a frank testimony about the realities of sex and shame within Christianity, albeit a very personal one.

The entire film will screen for free on Vimeo on September 17, 2015. For more information, you can visit the film's website.

@Atramental you gon be alright

I remember those days. I heard a variety of scust worthy teenage sunday school messages but the worst were always sex related. It's not surprised at all that so many teens and young adults lose their religion and start fucking.

----------------
A few days ago I was working out at the track when an older dude started talking to me. During my cool down period I walk around the track, and he asked me my name/where I was from/etc. I've been so divorced from the religious world lately that I didn't recognize he was preparing to minister to me.

5 minutes later he walked up to me during my rest period and gave me a card for Every Student.

He must have assumed I was in college or something. That shit seems far more accepting than the religious shit I'm used to lol.

The sad part is how many end up fucking with the least amount of knowledge of how to protect themselves and their partners.

There's a reason abstinence only education correlates with teenage pregnancy and stds.

Needs more authoritarian males like Josh Duggar's dad with code words like "Nike" if you're about to pop a boner.

He turned out great right?

I feel bad for Josh Duggar's wife. Can't find the link now but I was reading a letter from someone who knows the family, and she was just pointing out how his wife wasn't allowed to go to highschool or college, doesn't know any real world stuff, and her entire education was based around being a "good wife." She did everything she was told to do and now is faced with having a husband who not only molested his sisters, but cheated on her multiple times. Yet Josh is going to go away to another "camp" and come out forgiven and "changed." Whereas his wife has to deal with knowing that more than likely he hasn't changed at all, and she can't escape. That shit is sad.

Every (heterosexual) case of a religious dude I know getting caught/exposed for sexual stuff resulted in them being quickly forgiven. Every (heterosexual and homosexual) case of a religious girl being caught/exposed for sexual stuff resulted in them being kicked out of church, ostracized from their family, abandoned, etc. Not just 18 year olds...16 year old girls thrown out of their family and church, whereas the boy was sent to "camp" or forgiven after a long talk with church elders.

It needs to be permanent policy going forward that any 'religious' crotch sniffer is on MAXIMUM SUSPICION.

I didn't participate in an abstinence only church denomination. We had camp for those moving on to high school. It was basically summed up as "sex camp." They never told us to not have sex. They warned us and told us if we are going to have sex, use protection. On the last day we were taught how to put on condoms with a large cucumber and they passed out free condoms on the first day. The lead lady told a story of how she lost her virginity and that being a teenager is rife with passion but fueling that passion and lust is rarely worth it. My church denomination is pretty progressive. That said, the camps with the kids fucking were mostly (and I hate to say it) the one for black kids.

I learned more from that camp about sex than I ever did in school. In school, when they talked about sex in 5th grade, they separated us between gender so we didn't even get the full scoop. One time in school during this series of lessons I asked about touching yourself. I was reprimanded. I hadn't even discovered masturbation yet, much less know what it was, but was in trouble for having dare ask a question that was perceived to be masturbation related.

That's right, I learned more about sex from my church than I ever did in school.
