I got the system for pretty cheap. I guess Ys and Gravity rush were pretty good. If Xandu comes out here with a physical copy it wont all be a waste.  I do find it strange how visual novels have basically taken off on the system. Thats a genre I can't get into. I bought Ultra Despair Girls merealy because it had some gameplay that may keep me interested and I'd like to see what the series is about.

Ultra Despair Girls is a lot different than the first two games, but if you don't like Phoenix Wright/999 type games though, then you probably wouldn't like the other two anyway. I've only played this one a little bit so far, so I'm not sure how good it is yet.

After playing through a few chapters, I'd agree with that. It has hella spoilers for D1 & 2, and pretty much takes it for granted that you've already played both of those games. It doesn't explain who anyone is or why you should care about them for people that aren't already invested in the series (there's a 10 second recap of the events of D1 that occurs about 5 hours into the game, lol). Plus, 1 & 2 are better games, although AE is hitting my weeb-spot too. Also, Kurokuma da best. :bow2

The anime is terrible after playing the game, tbh

I think (hope) Kara was talking about Steins;Gate and not the Danganronpa anime.

All the 3D models and cutscenes in Another Episode throw me off real bad when I'm playing the game. I'm way too used to Danganronpa just being super riduculously stylized 2D paper cutouts placed in 3D environments, I kinda miss it.  :'(

Almost to the end of Chapter 4 (of 6). Game is finally starting to get a bit challenging. Some of the puzzle rooms are pretty tough if you're trying to get an A ranking (if you don't care about ranking, you can just shoot your way through all the puzzles  :gun). Most of the puzzles you get one shot and if you mess it up, you have to retry, and you can only retry twice per chapter and still get an A rank. Any more than that, and you'll have to reload a save from wherever the last save point was at.

Near the end of the game, they kinda make a joke about this.

In the Monokuma Robot factory, you see 3D Monokumas coming out of one machine with a sign that says "Monokuma, now in 3D!" and 2D Monokumas going into an trash compactor with a sign that says "Ahh! I'm scrap now!"

An exploit has been released that opens up some customization options on the Vita, including a way to account switch on a single card and apparently make games from one region just work right on another region, if I read things correctly.

The big thing is that the exploit also allows a lot of games that were not whitelisted for the PSTV to play normally.

Normally-incompatible games that I tested:

Working:

Uncharted Golden Abyss
Gravity Rush
Unit 13
Wipeout 2048
Hot Shots Golf World Invitational
Ridge Racer
Rayman Legends
Street Fighter X Tekken
Metal Gear Solid HD Collection
Mortal Kombat
Injustice

Not Working:

Dengeki Bunko Fighting Climax (JPN)
Hyper Dimension Neptunia Re;Birth 1

Someone on GAF mentioned that by modifying one of the files needed to run the exploit, they got Neptunia working, so I suspect that soon everything will just run, including PSP games not normally listed on the store for PSTV.

And yet the third party games keep on coming.
:rejoice

Got the latest Neptunia game last week- Blanc Vs. The Zombie Horde.  It's the sequel to Neptunia U.  Marginally better -levels go faster- and has 4P co-op offline/online play, plus some extra characters, but it's still kind of lacking as a beat-em-up, much like the first game.  Estival Versus is way better.

...For now. You better pray Sony continues to lick the third parties asses in the hopes they drop portable deuces on the system. NISA is out. Atlus is pretty much gonna be out after P4D's support ends. The only people left is Xseed and uh... um...?

http://www.ign.com/articles/2015/10/23/sony-confirms-its-stopped-first-party-vita-development?

Anyone with a lick of common sense and wasn't full on delusional has known this since at least 2012. What the hell has Sony brought out beyond MLB for the system post-launch? A few minor ports from PS3 and that's pretty much it. Nothing new, no sequels to their launch titles (Uncharted, Gravity Rush) on the system. Nada.

Aksys / Arksys, Marvelous, Idea Factory, Falcom, Bandai Namco, Koei, Sega, Square Enix and Spike Chunsoft to name a few. But they don't count, right?  :P

Atlus released 3 Vita games this year, NISA released 5. NISA hasnt announced any 2016 games period (but we already know Danganronpa 3 is a lock either way), and Atlus already has the Odin Sphere remake for PS4/Vita. It's a little too soon to count either of them out either.

Um yeah...

2016 is ok for the Vita.

Atlus isn't done. They are publishing two Vanillaware Vita games. I wouldn't be surprised if they had more ports as well before it's all said and done.

Square has a Saga game, Dragon Quest Builders, Dragon Quest Heroes 2, and I think something else.

Edit-World of FF, That Tokyo RPG factory game, and I think a Mana port.

Bandai Namco has Gundam Extreme Force and plenty of other anime games.

Spike Chunsoft has that Tri Ace game and of course Danganronpa.

There's plenty of Japanese Vita games coming. Though plenty of them have or will probably get PS4/PC ports.

So at least for 2016 Vita is pretty healthy.

Due to console wars and such, people forget that Sony is still struggling as a company.  They're still at junk bond status.  Not surprised that they want to move on from the Vita.  It doesn't necessarily have to mean that all software development for the Vita is over.

You'll notice that Nintendo hasn't been in a rush to launch a new handheld. Sony's Vita mistake has been valuable to Nintendo, who have only released variations of the 3DS hardware instead of a new portable, though we're nearing 3DS' 5th birthday.

That's a fair point. It looks like wikipedia lists the GBA as 2001, DS as 2004, and 3DS as 2011. But that's ignoring success rates. The GB was very successful (2009 LTD sales of 89M), but the DS was staggeringly popular (2014 LTD sales 154M). The 3DS has been more comparable than I expected (53M units as of June 2015 in less than 4 years) but it just /feels/ like the 3DS success is subdued compared to the same point in the DS' life cycle.

What title is Falcom, Bandai-Namco, and Koei bringing out? Hell, Sega or Square either. I haven't heard a peep in regards to titles from them. The others?  Nice, but they aren't going to raise any noise for the system.

...And, I'm posting about this the same day that Sony doesn't even mention the system at the conference they had hours earlier. Yep, the system is full-on hands-washed. Better count your blessings, folks.

Falcom released Tokyo Xanadu this year and the new Ys next year.

Bandai Namco did One Piece Musou 3 and Sword Art Online this year and have Digimon Story and the One Piece fighting game for 2016.

Koei did Atelier Ayesha Plus, Toukiden: Kiwami, Samurai Warriors 3: Chronicles, Ar nosurge Plus, Deception IV, and Samurai Warrior 4-II this year. They're doing Atelier Escha & Logy Plus, Tokiden 2 and Attack on Titan for 2016.

Sega technically falls in the same vein as Atlus, but they're doing Project Diva X next year.

Square has Dragon Quest Builders, World of Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest Heroes II, Project Setsuna and the new SaGa game for 2016.

I think we're looking at two different targets. The Vita is very obviously not gonna light the world on fire with any of those games. It's about keeping its owners happy with more support over whatever lifespan it has left, and it seems to still be getting it from Japanese developers. Video games still cost a lot of money to port to a system and localize them; if they didn't see it as a profitable venture, they'd either not be coming out for the Vita at all or they'd stay in Japan.

Sony 1st party not making any more Vita games doesn't really bother me in the least because I own mine for third party games in the first place. Gravity Rush,  Tearaway, Oreshika and Freedom Wars were great, but it is what it is. :yeshrug

another new game release for next year by NIS. Groundhog day-ish scenario that sounds like an inverse Dragon Quarter.

Also, localized Net High trophies popped up so we're likely getting that as well.
