Don't worry, I'll try to ensure you're not talking to yourself in here. ;)

It's definitely not going to be as entertaining as the American one last night.

Yeah, he's a little too "let's hug it all out, citizens."   It's coming across as patronizing, imo.

Very patronizing.  He also has kind of a strange cadence.

Not really buying the fragile world economy line.  It maybe true but it seems like such a cop out.

Economic debates are so hard to follow because they throw out a bunch of numbers fast with no context.  When Harper says they are spending more this year than the last Lib gov, is he adjusting for inflation?  How has the spending been over his gov?

Yeah, I anticipate this debate getting pretty repetitive because of this and its singular focus.

Got to get the 'right mix' of immigrants, sounds kinda racist and I can't tell if that's intentional or not.  It sounds like a line that would test will with conservatives.

Trudeau bringing up the worst growth since the great depression with out acknowledging that we went though the second worse ression is pretty disingenuous.

Holy shit how long was it since Harper last spoke?  Of course he's content to just sit back and let Mulcair and Trudeau fight for 10 minutes.

Which is where the damned moderator is supposed to step in and direct something his way.

Mulcair seems pretty weak here.  (Still voting NPD, mostly because I want a real 3 party system.)  Harper is coming off as the most experienced debator.

'lived within our means'  the NDP is really reaching for center voters and liberals for left voters.  Seems pretty strange.

Well, I'd say it's working in the NDP's case for me, making me less scared of actually voting for the NDP for the first time.

78 days long.  And that makes it the longest election in Canadian history at that.

Helps that we don't have to waste time on each party picking their leaders beforehand.

I don't think that Corbyn guy has much of a shot to become PM, especially after National sacked Abbott for Turnbull.

Well I have some friends who looked into emigration to Canada and my understanding is that economic immigration is screened. You score points based on your profile, and Canada would much rather have somewhat young people already speaking English and French and working specialized and high value job in demand. It's all a bit de-humanizing but I suppose pretty much every country have something like that. I don't think it is racist, but it is easy to pander to xenophobic sentiment by how you present it by impliying that best qualified immigrants correlates to "acceptable" white foreigners from US, UK and Europe.
