So I got Far Cry Primal through game share with a friend.
I like it so far. I like it for the very specific reasons of the time and setting compared to regular Far Cry games. It feels like this is kinda the way the series should have always been versus the guns aspect of the other games. Graphics are great. Probably the best representation of being out in the forest/jungle I've seen in a game.
It's still an ubisoft game and if you are tired of that formula this won't change your opinion. In fact it doubles down on most of those elements since the collectathon aspect revolving around collectiong plants and getting animal skins actually feels mandatory in this game versus being somewhat optional.
For whatever reason, I'm less bothered by it here than I was in the last two Far Cry games. Maybe because I can roleplay being a caveman needing to do this shit versus random dude just dropped into the jungle doing it for some reason.
Would this be a better game if some really creative developer used this setting and idea? Probably. But its fun enough for what it is. Probably not worth paying full price for though.
