I once had a long debate with my little cousin over why meese is not the plural of mouse. She still doesn't get it.

This is my official return to recursive threads btw. My contract was finally extended after weeks of negotiation. Hope we win a championship or at least a certificate for excellence in the work place.

no one needs me to say this, but this sounds like overregulation: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Errors_in_early_word_use (Sort of, meese would be an irregular plural)

Logisplaining language use to kids pretty much always fails and is entirely useless anyway, short of exposing her to the normative values of language correction.

It's sometimes hard to tell her anything because she keeps bringing up the fact that I told her when she gets to 11th grade she'll learn W is a vowel. Some high school kid told me that when I was a kid and I thought it would be some cool shit to say to an impressionable youth. But now every little kid has access to the Google and can ruin the fucking fun then never let you forget about it jeez.

Well that is embarrassing.   Gonna have to take what you say here with a grain of salt from now on.  Also its a glide, which is sometimes called a semivowel.  I'm not condoning you spreading linguistic lies to innocent young minds, but its as close to a vowel you can get without being a vowel.

Like 'w' wouldn't feel like consonant Malcolm x speaks to their issues but it still can't drink at the vowel only water fountain,  know what I mean?  Having said that, don't go telling your cousin 'w' built the railroad just cause an older cool kid told you something interesting.
