I mean of the top grossing games right now you have a bunch of King Match 3 games, several Clash of Clans management sims, a couple of slot machine games, a gachapon RPG (which given the fairly minor success of Record Keeper is something Nintendo and DeNA could do with Pokemon) etc etc.

If Nintendo was unimaginative as most everyone else they'd make a Clash of Clans game out of Animal Crossing (only without combat), a Gachapon "RPG" out of Pokemon, a match 3 out of whatever, and maybe an Endless Runner based on Mario.

On the subject of using existing IPs, I don't really see them bringing any mainline entries into their mobile games (so I don't think Animal Crossing and Pokemon would have a proper game on phones anytime soon). Probably just spinoffs that takes advantage of mobile features. I feel Pokemon GO is a really good example of what they should be doing, it honestly sounds really interesting enough to attract attention.

I really enjoyed Tomodachi Life, and Miitomo reminds me of it but IDK what to exactly expect from it. I guess I'll wait and see. I have no idea how it'll fare out.
