I get that this is a fanservice game & cloud is popular, but another anime sword dude is pretty uneventful given some of the more fun and inventive characters like wii fit trainer and villager imo.

The great thing is that those character's still exist (and I'm glad they do, as a Villager main.) I rarely play most of the cast except for when I'm in "fuck it" mode and set mine to random, but I still really appreciate things like this. Personally, I don't think anything will top Mega Man's announcement for me, but it seems like they keep trying to.

PSABR's roster was such a huge mess and full of missed opportunities. Such a shame because I looked forward to the game early on development, but when I saw the footage and the roster... ehhhh....

And there was that GBA KH game

EDIT: Cloud in Smash isn't too strange come to think of it. Considering he's the face of a franchise that had a strong pretense on Nintendo for several systems. Just that his game wasn't on Nintendo.

In all fairness, Street Fighter II was a big deal for the SNES. Cloud is definitely the outlier though.

EDIT: If it were upto me though, I'd probably gone for Black Mage or something. Dunno what really fits FF the most for Smash Bros, but I kinda figure something from the early titles would suffice.
