PvP: Meh.
PvE: Brain Dead AI.

I dunno if they improved it with this beta from the last one, apparently they have. But with the state of the beta (delayed by a day and within a week of launch), I'm not gonna hold my breath on it being radically improved. :doge

I did some PvP.  It got old fast.  I also found that team-killing instituted no penalty, so some games turned into inter-team deathmatches, presumably out of boredom.  Snore.  This shit is getting deleted; thanks for the preview and the $60 saved, Ubi.  :doge

I agree, thanks Ubi for the months of free time with this game to save me money, but I'll splooge again about it anyway.

Each beta has improved, though the leap from the first closed to the first open was probably the largest. This one doesn't have much more than the last closed beta did. Except that I think all of the operators are now available.

I don't know if the gameplay has really improved all that much from the original concept, they've barely even tweaked the maps. I wouldn't blame someone for thinking the only change since the last open beta was the UI.

The matchmaking for the PvP isn't as busted as we were discussing in the other thread, but it's still pretty busted, three days from release. :lol

Thing is...is this game is only shipping with four maps with night/day variants? I think that's all I've seen across five betas, open and closed.

And are there really no variants on these two modes? (Let alone other modes?) Why call the one "Classic" if you aren't making mods of it? You gotta release with these Ubi, you can't DLC them in down the road. Well, you can I suppose. I just don't recommend it.

It's a shame because there's still only the one map (the House*) that really takes advantage of what the game is supposed to be letting you do. Though good teamwork makes the one map in the prison or whatever feel pretty hot. The boatyard or whatever is ugh. (Although blowing through three straight walls in the one section and then capping the assaulting team from behind near-instantly because nobody else seemed to know you can take out the middle one (since it's decorated or something, not just wood textured) was amusing. Even if the only reason I knew was because of the map being in the closed beta with the silly extra NDA.)

*Which they were showing from practically the first time this game appeared until the first beta. It's even in the commercial!

Guess there's at least three other maps, why didn't they put the airplane (the barricade on the doorway made me laugh) in any of the betas? Or the bank? Or wherever that library is from? Or Clancy?

I've always liked it but I have too many shooters currently to fit it into the mix.

It has its moments, but connection issues are awful.

Yeah that would be my biggest issue. It isn't a good look that every time the game has been shown to the public, the matchmaking and connection stuff has been sketchy at best.

They did? I could swear I played that ma--Oh, no that was in the E3 one.

I know in the closed beta they had the museum and one other one that matched Terrorist Hunt IIRC.

I love the whole "you die, you die" drama and the rush of whooping a defending team's collective asses in 30 seconds but as a whole this is simply an anticipated 20 dollar purchase for me. Bummer

The major worry you should have is if the game is even alive by that point. Ubisoft's content plans is pretty barren. They're doing one map and mode every two months or so over the year. I dunno if a massive playerbase (if any) will stick around given how Ubisoft games generally clear out after a month or two. Assassin's Creed's multiplayer cleared out within like six months or so.

They released a free Ultra HD Texture Pack for this on PC:
Quote
The Ultra-HD texture pack will upgrade some of the most common textures in the game, such as characters, and weapons, to a new level of visual fidelity. This higher level of detail can be best appreciated while playing the game in 4K resolution, but it’s not limited to that.

The Rainbow Six Siege team put a lot of effort to try to deliver a solid and scalable experience to the PC community, so those of you running a 4 GB GPU will still be able to enjoy this texture pack from 1080p to 1440p resolutions.

Those of you with the high-end 6+ GB GPUs, you will be able to play the game in sharp 4K resolution, along with these Ultra-HD textures under standard lighting and shading options.

Last but not least, for those of you with the MEGA PCs with dual GPUs and with more than 6 GB of video ram, you will be able to run 4K, with the Ultra-HD textures, and with the highest settings of lighting and shading which take advantage of tech like displacement mapping.

We hope you enjoy playing the game with these new textures!

Team killing reduction
Implemented an auto-kick feature for intentional team killers.

We have set some parameters that will cause an automatic kick of a griefer within a match. We are trying our best to make the distinction between accidental team killing and intentional team killing. Same goes for intentional hostage killing while playing as Defender. We will be tracking if the auto-kick feature reduces intentional team killing instances and will be adjusting the rigor of the parameters accordingly. Also, for PC, you can now use your mouse wheel in addition to the arrow keys to navigate the player selection screen.

This issue has been noticed since the Open Beta, in which we witnessed an exponential growth of griefers intentionally team killing - 1.3% of the matches were affected at the beginning, and it went as high as 7.8% at the end which is obviously unacceptable. We were glad to observe that over launch, this issue is much less present. We did experience a small growth at first, but it has now plateaued. It had started at 0.9% but later stabilized at 1.8%. We still believe that this is an issue and will be tracking how the new auto-kick feature will affect these statistics.

Game seems to be getting respect from the media now suddenly and the hardcore shooter community.

I'm glad. I always thought it was fun in the betas even when the performance was sketchy. And it fills a hole that doesn't really exist in shooters currently on the market.

I would have gotten it, but I had already gotten a number of other shooters this fall.
