Xillia's combat and fields and shops are zzzzzz, Graces is better in everything except story/characters.

Best Tales are Destiny R, Eternia, Abyss, Vesperia. I think Eternia still holds up pretty well and doesn't have a lot of nonsense bs. The psp port was good. Legendia's music and animation is amazing but shame about dungeons & battles.

For male characters, I'm partial to Yuri and Raven. Vesperia had by far the best roster of characters in the series - they even made the kid character not annoying, which is quite the feat for a modern day RPG

The Abyss cast all suck. It's a bunch of lying assholes that treat Luke (the only good character before his sudden face turn) like shit all through the game despite knowing everything that's going on and never feel the need to fill him in on stuff, then fully blame Luke for *spoilers* happening despite already knowing that he wasn't responsible for it and Luke being left all alone by them in the first place. The game itself is pretty hot shit too, with Free Running breaking the game due to it being the first game to implement it.

Graces has the best everything except cast, although even that's not too bad if you're used to the typical anime tropes. Xillia's empty fields are zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz-tier.

I haven't played either of the R versions of those, but probably Hearts.

only reason why I got in to tales was cuz I got bored of waiting for vXIII/XV, now I have all this shit (with graces F digital and Innocence R on the way)

Wait, you're playing them in Japanese? Then skip all that sub-standard shit and play Eternia psp. Also I think Rebirth got a psp port, the combat in that is leagues better than these R games.

Fwiw, Eternia will feel kind of old dated like a 16-bit rpg, but it still plays fine and has a good cast and world. Rebirth plays very modern and deep but the story/characters are so bad.

I'm nearing the end of Eternia. The graphics are so good. Feels bad that they stopped caring about the games looking good (despite the lower budget) since Xillia or so, when they just said fuck it.
The story is absolute standard, but I like the quick pacing.

The only Tales game I've ever played was Symphonia on the Gamecube. It was ok I guess.

Best girl from it was Sheena. The boys were all pretty awful though so I'm not going to choose any of them.
