After millennials came...The Founders

Quote
Griffin is part of a generation that hasn’t been fully defined but appears to break from millennials—and one that doesn’t yet have a widely accepted name. MTV is looking to change that, and the network will announce a new name Wednesday: the Founders.

MTV President Sean Atkins says the name acknowledges that while millennials have disrupted society, it’s this new generation’s job to rebuild it. “They have this self-awareness that systems have been broken,” he told TIME ahead of the announcement. “But they can’t be the generation that says we’ll break it even more.”
Quote
“The Founders” generation is still in its early stages, and the perceptions being formed may change over time. MTV executives say they realize that and may rethink the name in the future. But for now, they’re sticking with Founders, a name Griffin, the New York City teenager, endorses.

“It definitely describes our generation,” he says. “And considering the other names out there, it’s a lot easier to remember.”

This was a thing:
Quote
echo boomer

noun, Informal.
1.
a member of Generation Y, born in the 1980s or 1990s; a Millennial.

Origin of echo boomer
so called because many are children (‘echos’) of baby boomers, and the birthrate also increased in the 1980s and 1990s

How did we disrupt society? I'm so confused. We haven't had the time to disrupt anything yet.

It was the millennials that made Mtv irrelevant and also quit paying for cable television altogether. Quite disruptive to a man like him.

Something about using Facebook and Twitter a lot. And Uber. And getting music videos on YouTube.

Quote
MTV is part of a growing number of media companies and marketers that have been trying to figure out what drives this group. Research is beginning to show that teenagers today are more pragmatic and independent than their millennial predecessors. They’re more likely to stand out than fit in. They’re digital natives who don’t know a time before being constantly plugged in. And they’re part of the most diverse generation in history, a generation that will soon be as coveted among marketers as millennials.
...
MTV says its research shows that younger teens today see a world drastically disrupted. Facebook and Google have upended the news business. YouTube has disrupted television. Airbnb and Uber have unsettled long-established industries like hotels and taxis. The economy itself was disrupted by the Great Recession, creating a world in which their parents may have lost their jobs and family budgets are tight.

I have to admit I'm kind of sad that the new generation is getting the spotlight. Millenials are old news.

Using the snake person extension makes it even better for a Destiny plotline.

Think of this way. We will no longer be blamed for everything, and the new gen seems  pro-millennial.

Would be cool if this could be the last generation and we could just wind things down after that.
Do you mean in an extermination of the human race kind of way? Because...I mean...it is you...

I don't understand where the hatred of Gen X comes from, nor do I get how the Millennials have fucked anything up. (You'd have to do anything in order to fuck anything up)

Whole thing seems like a ploy to distract hatred from where it belongs: the boomers, who actually fucked everything up.

Who actually fucked everything up after coasting in on the tails of The Greatest Generation, and subsequently point at everyone else as the cause of all problems, despite having abandoned all their own ideals.

Aren't these generations usually evaluated after puberty at least? Since your teens are usually the point you're most in touch with popular culture.

MTV is the only the bleeding edge of culture, I trust them implicitly. Just look at this Sword of Shannara TV series they got coming out, which is designed specifically for the FOUNDER GENERATION and their love of Terry Brooks, voice of the generation.

I read somewhere that and hosting The Voice was his payoff because he had a clause in his contract regarding succeeding Conan/Fallon on Late Night.

EDIT: lol, it's still on too
Quote
It was eventually decided that Daly would limit his role on Last Call to the opening and closing segments as of the 13th season. All other segments are either interviews done by producers or production assistants without comment by them, or straight musical performances with only Daly's continuity introducing them

I knew he was around and on The Voice because of it running over before shows. And that gets like 14 million viewers an episode. And somehow had nine seasons in four years.
