Declaring it an asset and then hitting him with tons of unpaid taxes is a nice touch. Especially since he probably can't cash them in.

I was hoping there'd be something about currency counterfeiting charges, I guess the Aussies aren't as sophisticated as the U.S. government.

Bitcoins have always been just out of my realm of understanding. I figured this would happen eventually.

Means absolutely jack and shit. No way that guy kept his BTC at his house. And if he was stupid enough to not bury it somewhere...

They're buried on the Deep Web. Only CSI: Cyber can crack this case. :doge

Isn't that one of the trails they used to bust that silk road guy though? Probably not as safe as people think.

Bitcoin's creator should hire someone who knows 12 year olds best, who can stay one step ahead of them and prevent them from finding his stash.

It is when it's in the dirt and not on a laptop. And that guy was really fucking stupid. Fake ID's from overseas? Trying to sell tiny (1 kilo) amounts of cocaine, when you collect a couple mil a month in commission, whilst you are one of the most wanted men in the country? Hiring hitmen off the internet?

That guy did all three, and that's what got him.
