I like Steve Jobs as a businessman more than Bill Gates.

Now as for humanity it's reversed.

But the guy was an expert salesman who knew fully how to take advantage of talent. You can hate that but he was a boss at that game.
YMMV

Well you could say he's not much of a chef in the corporate kitchen.

Has anybody in the world bombed an interview like the woman in this video? No need to listen to it all but pick 10 minutes and cringe accordingly.

Brain (lifetime head), fame, (shoot porn with) train (hit it with your boys)

Brain: Tim Cook. I don't know who he is but it's 2015 head is head.  :larry

Fame: Steve Jobs of course. Apple stans would pay top $$$ to see that. Macusers might even skip a sneaker payment.  :leon

Train: Bill Gates. I've had a lot of frustration with Windows that he needs to answer for.  :mynicca

How about you, PD?

And his idiocy was the cause.

People talk about Bill Gates as a great philanthropist, but I think compared to Jobs, he is just a much more well-adjusted human being.

I implied marriage here. Like that Chinese ceremony they do for people who die without a partner (only I'm not dead).

People like to forget that Steve Jobs was a failed businessman for the longest time. He didn't get into business with iPod and iPhone. He was at it for a long time and failed hard.

Bill Gates on the other hand was much more successful and much earlier. But PCs aren't hip in this day and age so people like to forget it.

Bill Gates is clearly the superior businessman. But he's not a marketing hype man like Jobs, so people prefer Jobs.

The fuck are you talking about? Jobs was worth 100 million at age 25. Nice try though,....

Eh I don't know anything about his net worth or anything and which age. I'm saying no one knew Jobs or gave a shit until the iPod and iPhone. Some people may have heard of him during the Mac days. But he wasn't a big name until later in life.

Apple II says you're incorrect. He ran a commercial during the super bowl called 1984 that was kinda famous.

Jobs won early. Well honestly Woz did, he invented the Apple I.
Gates won the middle and had to save apple himself (150 million dollar cash investment)
Jobs ended up winning (Apple is worth more than microsoft)

That's how it went.

Quote
The electronic spreadsheet was essentially invented in 1979 by software pioneer Dan Bricklin, who started up Software Arts with Bob Frankston and created VisiCalc. The technology took a huge next step in 1983 when Mitch Kapor’s Lotus Development Corp. rolled out Lotus 1-2-3, which integrated charts and spreadsheets in the same program. Soon IBM PCs, loaded with Microsoft’s MS-DOS and Lotus 1-2-3, were pushing aside mainframe terminals in corporate offices.

Microsoft already had its own spreadsheet, Multiplan, but lagged in sales behind 1-2-3.

as usual, :ufup

Steve Jobs was a nutty, egotistical hippie dude that was incredibly charismatic.

Not saying other people in the tech field aren't egotistical. But Steve Jobs seemed like the type of person to not wipe his ass because he truly believed shit doesn't stink if you only eat fruit and raw vegetables.

Some people may have heard of him during the Mac days.

Nah, breh. People knew of Jobs. The only reason he "blew up" in popularity with the iPod/iPhone is because 1) they didn't cost $1,000 a pop and 2) see #1. People could actually buy them on a reasonable salary.

With that said: Jobs was popular in the art world. Most graphic designers use a Mac. Most audio houses used a Mac.

Gate's won the "business" world with Office (and A_I_A is right about the timeline on that. God I remember Lotus 1-2-3 and I'm not even that old) and Windows being far cheaper than a Mac. But Jobs won at getting a GUI out into the world. Honestly, this whole "Jobs vs Gates" war is stupid. They were both highly respectable and whip-smart in that era and brought a new era into the world under different mind-views.

Jobs had a great sense of aesthetics.

...And knew what he wanted his product to do and designed teams to do them. You think Jobs' notorious asshole temperament is a lie? He was extremely hard to work for according to people. But at the same time that's what made him good.

Auto-updates itself. OH NOES!

spoiler (click to show/hide)
It checks your personal data and sends it to MS. They say they remove personal identification information, but there's privacy concerns that are valid about it.

That said, it's nothing overly huge given a lot of the things Windows 10 is doing besides that is trying to make the OS more secure for people that don't do security.

Ruzbeh's specific debacle was that it wouldn't install or run at first, then he couldn't get over the UI design. Or the other way around, I forget.
