Man vs. Game dude admits to taking speed during streaming
« on: January 13, 2016, 11:05:07 PM »
Starts talking about it at 14:30.

http://www.twitch.tv/manvsgame/v/28835883

Stole this right from Gaf, but I watched this dude play Dark Souls 2 a lot in the past. I'd go to sleep, do my daily shit, and see him still streaming from when he initially started. He constantly drank pitchers of coffee, and would be drained as fuck after streaming for 10+ hours.

Would be interesting to know how many streamers are popping ADHD meds and amphetamine to constantly play the same games over and over.

EDIT: He starts talking about the speed using around 19:00.

And its from December. Still new news for me anyways.

Dude constantly talked about how depressed he was and was streaming to escape the depression. Then he streamed for 80+ hours straight to finish Arkham Knight so it wasn't surprising when I learned this.

I disagree with him in regard to how it was brought to attention. Clearly he was never going to get help and living in the little bubble was doing him no good. Forcing him to face it head on was the only way to make something happen. Hopefully he gets some help.

I think personal friends on twitter were asking him if hes okay and straight up acknowledged that he's been a speed demon this past year. I think I stopped watching his stuff in spring of this year, around when Bloodborne came out. Watching is streams from a few months ago, he definitely looks haggard as fuck.

His story is pretty sad, its really similar to any story about how a celebrity or athlete fuels their drug habit with their profession. In this case its sadder because playing videogames was what enabled him to be a drug addict.

Those drug-fuelled marathon sessions are probably why I even know about him.

The streamer lifestyle seems miserable. Unless if you're a lady with boobies.

I think his divorce was what triggered a lot of this. He probably already suffered from depression prior but getting divorce made it worse. And since his job inherently means he's spending large amount of time alone, he basically isolated himself from the world and feel deeper deeper down until the obvious conclusion.

When your profession is based around amassing constant donations and subscriber numbers then its not surprising.

I mean its unfortunate but then again lots of people are in this situation in life who have two jobs or are regular struggling to make ends meet.
