Saw some of this first hand and it's very impressive. But I have a feeling that it isn't as fully developed as it was meant to be from the start. The story elements that were video were a lot shorter than they made them out to be. But this was a preview so I'm sure that might have had something to do with it. Game looks amazing on Xboxone, but it has some framerate issues due to resolution scaling which this game does heavily.

Can't wait for this though!

Loving it myself. If Alan Wake was  Remedy doing Twin Peaks/Stephen King this is basically them doing a kind of 24 meets Time Cop. Even the tv show stuff is really well done, I was surprised. Some of the cgi stuff for the live action is a little rough but everything else is quality (acting, direction and even the dialog).

Gameplay/gunplay wise, the shooting feels a LOT like Alan Wake but the time powers make it feel like a super aggressive/offensive based Max Payne. You get this dash where if you aim right after it slows time for a little bit, so what I'm a big fan of is dashing into dudes sending them flying and then unloading into their fucking face.

Essentially if you were a fan of Alan Wake but wanted it to be a little more actiony but not new nightmare actiony this might ring your bell.

I'm really liking it so far. They at least accomplished me being legitimately interested in the story so far.

:piss Windows Store exclusive. :piss2

When it becomes Win32 and released on something that isn't walled garden (or I can pirate it. :shh ) I'll consider it.

I really like the action gameplay in here.  You can set up some really cool shit with the different time moves.

The effects are also awesome.  Had a shoot out in the library at the beginning of the game.  Book cases getting torn apart and books flying everywhere was fucking awesome.

The actual video content is pretty well done.  For a moment I had flashbacks to that shitty X Files game on the PS1.  That's what I think of every time games mix recorded video with CGI, but it works pretty well here.

Really ambitious game that failed to deliver. Kind of sad knowing that Alan Wake 2 probably won't happen now. This game left a lot to be desired and its only redeeming value is that it had the potential for greatness so hopefully they get another shot at this type of narrative experience. Lets just hope it doesn't take 5 more years. I just wish they created a time machine and went back to when they decided to make this over the better version of Quantum Break that we deserve.

wtf at how they handled that ending. That didn't end shit! Also what happened to all of the characters from the show that they made such a big deal about?

Some of the set pieces are really awesome. The parking garage for example.

I'm about to start Act 4. The story is like a B tier TV show you might find on the CW which is a + in the context of video game stories.

One thing that might be a negative for some is that the gameplay could be refined to make you play it the way it's meant. If you wanted to you could use your powers sparingly or not at all and play it like a terrible cover shooter. Everything I've fought so far could have been defeated without using my time powers, it just would have been boring.

Yea im guessing on the higher difficulty its more important but for the most part on normal it's not super mandatory.

Ok just finished.

I'm not sure how you can be mad at the ending when it was sold as a meld between games and movies. It ends like most movies that leave themselves open for a sequel. But it tied up the arc of the fracture well enough.

The gameplay is easily entertaining enough if you decide to use your powers to have fun and not just to get through the game... Because you don't have to use them to get through the game for the most part. The story reminded me of a not whacky MGS. Lots of exposition and dialogue and reasonably well done for a game. A bit short, a bit linear and a bit easy. But for someone like me who likes the feeling of accomplishment by actually finishing games but not having the time to pour in 40 hours it was perfect.

The game can also go from really stunning visually to hideous in just a few seconds. I hope we get a sequel with a fleshed out engine and gameplay.

Ok yeah, playing it on hard now so I can 1000 this game and you can't survive without using your powers. I think it's actually more fun so far on hard.

Yeah the story was actually decent and was a time travel story that was neither confusing nor too up it's own ass. It had a defining logic and it kept it, never really pulling anything out of it's ass. It was pretty interesting all the way through I think. I mean I was never bored, possibly because the cast was actually decent. I mean none of them were OMG deep, but none were stupid. All had an well reasoned motives which in a medium were characters hardly ever makes sense, is actually pretty good.  I mean hell, the villains seem to make sense. Even the actual evil bad guy. The game hints at something pretty interesting with him.

I liked all the performances. Shawn Ashmore was pretty good and well I know I've read that same find Jack boring and well I don't know, maybe they could have harped on it better, but he seemed like a normal dude. A normal dude who can kill a bunch of dudes because of well video games. I guess maybe he got involved in small trouble as a young adult or whatever. But beyond that small video game consent(one I don't care about) he comes off as the normal dude in all of this. Trying to find the best outcome and I think Ashmore was good because he doesn't sound anything like a typical badass dude that a worse developer would cast for their game. So I really liked him.

Other then that I can't find fault with anyone else in the game.

As for the gamplay, yes I do think the aiming isn't as smooth as some of the best, but it was still good. Felt a bit too rigid to me and no shooting from the hip kind of sucks, but sense they've moved slowing down for aiming to actually just aiming it's ok. Maybe a better choice then tieing it to a button. Either way, all of the battles were fun and I thought there were plenty of them so I don't know what reviews were talking about. There were always thrilling because at the end of the day the game encourages using them over cover, especially since enemies are aggressive, flank, and don't take cover so they can just stand there and take pot shots at you. So maybe just use cover as a breather, but quickly get back out there and move around.

I don't know, it was just a simply good game.

The live action stuff I think was great as all the villains and side characters actually got decent development. I wish Liam didn't go out so shitty, but whatever.

I mean at parts it looked a bit cheap. Like the lifeboat not being anything too exciting. It looked like a real good Youtube exclusive, but it wasn't poorly acted and when they did do action scenes it looked good.

Good game.

Agreed on pretty much all of that.

So far I've noticed a few pretty big changes on my replay based on decisions and quantum ripples.  It's definitely worth replaying IMO.

One of the few games where I would actually like to see a solid budgeted movie/tv spun out of it. Do like how even if they were "bad" the game did a great job of making you feel like everyone was trying to do what they felt was the right thing.

Felt really bad for Liam and Beth though. Time fuckery ended up fucking them.

Yeah. Every character was somewhat relatable. Charlie only redeemed himself at the end. He was mostly shitty up until then.

This game is really, really, really good and ambitious. I like it a lot. Remedy just keep knocking it out of the park for me.

Easily one of the most competent storytellers in gaming. QB shows they can do complexity! Forever a Remedy fanboy.

I've never seen Time Cop or 24 but I'm a huge Stephen King dork so I'm going to agree with this.
