George Martin died tonight

George Martin, the “Fifth Beatle” and British treasure who signed the Fab Four to a label contract when no one else would, produced virtually all their songs and introduced lavish arrangements into “Yesterday” and “A Day in the Life,” has died. He was 90.

Beatles drummer Ringo Starr shared the news on Twitter, writing "Peace and love... George will be missed." Details of his death are not yet clear.

Can we talk about how Martin was basically Puff Daddy to the Beatles/Biggie? IE taking talented but not particularity noteworthy artists and turning them into superstars by over producing some shit? 

Paul didn't want any strings on Yesterday and thought the song was trash with them 

Biggie thought Juicy was trash and had to be forced to record it

Paul McCartney wrote like my long lost Auntie from Shropshire-on-Bountyfarts about tiddly-wibles and sea captains. But he also wrote Yesterday and Blackbird. So it's hard for me to throw him away completely.

But on topic, George Martin was an awesome producer. He was the glue of so many acts.
