Started playing this now that it went open beta.
Riktor feels like a monster if you can land hooks and body block well. Once you start building up a level / card point lead, people start panicking when you reel them in. I tried Muriel in solo queue too, but the pugs i played with lacked any sort of coordination, making it a frustrating endeavor.
I think the matches go on for too long, possibly because minion tower damage is too low. The issue gets compounded when people disconnect from the game, which is to be expected during matchmaking these first few days. The real problem is that there's no "safe to leave" status that other mobas have, so you're at the mercy of the surrender option, which people pay zero attention to.
I don't know how to feel about the card system yet. You basically set up a deck of items which determines your progression in-game. Once you hit a point during the game where you no longer need a specific item, you can discard it to refund the points you used to purchase it, but you can't equip it again. I'm looking forward to putting together some wacky decks to switch up my character's play style, but if the cards aren't balanced well, then it's going to become a pain collecting specific ones to keep up with the meta.
I'll probably put a lot more time into it during the next few weeks. If anyone wants to party up in the future, my username is docbon.
Also, they totally based their newest character on that Needs More Cowbell sketch:
