I never watched Punisher because he was even worse than the giant hole in Caredevil. Irredeemably bad character beloved by cops and permanently aspiring cops.

They were digging the hole the whole time, it was the reason Nobu in s1 was concentrated on buying up buildings in the area. Matt just doesn't discover it until s2. The hole becomes a mine shaft in The Defenders, and at the bottom is the bones of the dragon which gives them their resurrection juice.

That sounds pretty great, but I had forgotten most of that by the time I snored through the end of DEFENDERS.
