Our goal was to bring the world of Nosgoth to life in a new and challenging manner; a manner which allowed players to wage asymmetric warfare against each other as both human and vampire-kind.
A massive amount of work has gone into making Nosgoth a reality, and continually bringing new developments to the game. Our own teams, as well as the great guys at Psyonix, have dedicated a huge portion of themselves to making Nosgoth bigger and better over the years. Not only that, but dedicated community members provided a great deal of feedback that has been tremendously beneficial to the game. We are eternally grateful. Thank you one and all.
The above only makes today’s announcement that much more difficult.
It is with a heavy heart and an immense sense of sadness that we must announce the end of Nosgoth’s development. Servers will continue to run until 31st May 2016, during which time you will be able to play the game as normal. After that date, Nosgoth will be taken offline for the last time.
The developer Psyonix (Rocket League) from a month ago:
Gamereactor: We thought we'd start off by asking about the current state of Nosgoth.
Jacob Mott: We've had a lot of players around from the very start who've definitely enjoyed it, and they've seen the game have a big evolution from originally having only three maps, two or three classes for each side, and almost doubling that into what we're currently at, with Beastmaster around the corner. We're especially excited for the game to come out of early access when we do get around to that - we're hoping to get a nice push of new players to get in here and get these new fresh perspectives on how the game is feeling for newer players. Definitely as it comes out we will be doing stuff like a balance patch and a general polish pass, just to clean up and to get things up to speed, but we're definitely excited to come out of early access and get a bunch of new fresh perspectives.
Nosgoth is currently in early access, but as we were told by a PR representative during this interview, it should be releasing fully soon.
They just rolled out a separate launcher (was Steamworks) that fucks up connecting to games apparently. And they never added matchmaking or fixed gobs of bugs like they said they would. See first link for more detailed bitching. And people talking about how they're crying over it.
I played it over a year and a half ago and it seemed like it could be fun once they added more stuff. (I think it had like three classes and two maps at the time.) It was doing some asymmetrical warfare things and I really like that in games. (Vampire side was more like third-person melee, while humans were FPS long range attackers.) I guess I'll try and play it one more time before they shut it down since it's still on my hard drive. If I remember before then.
I think Stoney? also played some of it for a bit.
