Quote
Xbox 360 means a lot to everyone in Microsoft. And while we’ve had an amazing run, the realities of manufacturing a product over a decade old are starting to creep up on us. Which is why we have made the decision to stop manufacturing new Xbox 360 consoles. We will continue to sell existing inventory of Xbox 360 consoles, with availability varying by country.

Halfway makes me want to buy a backup Slim for when my current workhorse finally collapses, but the truth is the big problem for me will be if they stop supporting downloads and verification of purchased software. I imagine that's not in the works for a long, long time, but the nature of digital purchases is so much more ephemeral than the clunky Super Famicom cartridges I see every time I am in a retro game shop in Osaka.

Still, just kind of sad -- as much as I was crazy for my PS2, I didn't use it even 1/4 as much as I've used my 360.

360 was great right up until the second Kinect was announced. I barely touched the thing post-2010. Amazing experience from 2006 to 2010 though 👍

Yeah, the 360 really dried up fast around 2010-2011, but the first few years were really great. Especially if you didn't have a decent computer.

I'd personally say as soon as Mattrick joined. But to be fair, in my heart of hearts it's right after J. Allard and most of the original X-box team left. The console was still good, but it lost most of the "mojo" that got me to buy the X-box over the PS2 in the previous generation.

I actually really like my Kinect, but I don't think it's good for actual gaming. The exercise and dance titles for it are good, but the Dashboard and Guide navigation with Kinect is like the maggot you find in dog dookie: it makes an already bad experience even more traumatizing.

But putting on either of Doublefine's Kinect Action Theater titles when there are kids at our house parties is a great way to keep them intrigued and occupied.

I feel so uninspired to buy an Xbone.

360 was a great machine aside from the hardware imploding fucking constantly. :P Too bad they seemingly went out of their way to destroy all the goodwill they'd earned during the build up to the release of the boner.

When I first bought mine all I did was play Hexic and the Dead Rising Demo on a tiny CRT. Eventually bought a VGA cable (I was in college and poor). For the past few years I only really used it to watch Twitch in the living room.

My first time using an XBone was last week at work.

was a great console that really put the ps3 to shame for a few years

sure it was a disaster with all the red rings, lack of hdd and built in wifi but ms stepped up and was a champ with repairing and releasing new models

The game Trent is referring to is "Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance". A hodgepodge of Castlevania assets from the DS games smashed into a multiplayer loot/grind-a-thon. They did weekly DLC for a bit (new characters, items, levels, bosses) and boy it was a golden time. One of my fondest gaming memories actually.

The game wont be the same without those 6 player crews though :(

Drac's dialogue was so killer.

"This is not the end, this is just the beginning. GAZE UPON MY DARK FORM"

Man I wish I knew where my old HDD was. My fricken Richter was maxed in a lot of subs and I had 2 misers rings and all the other good shit. I never did solo the CV1 level!

That game had an ongoing community for a shockingly long time. It's probably not so lively now but a ways back there'd be runs to be had on the weekends if no other time. And then they let some garbage western studio ruin the franchise and made pachinko machines. :'( BloodStained looks cool as fuck so far at least, and I think I do detect some snark in a game whose title is abbreviated to BS.

Most consoles would have killed for that godly line up before they shat themselves on Kinect

Gears Of War  :gladbron
Project Gotham Racing 4  :whoo
Halo 3 :lawd
Viva Pinata :rejoice

360 was everything a console should aspire to be before that multimedia abortion post NXE update.

Its such a shame that so much classic IP was outsourced to Western devs who butchered the shit. Although while writing this, whats the actual body count?

- Bionic Commando Rearmed was awesome
- Bionic Commando 2009 was GOTY 2009 (RIP Grin)
- Silent Hill was out of ideas I guess and they paid off some US dev installments
- Castlevania went down the total ass-wrong route and made some BS God of War clones. Never played them but they looked awful. I still think making more IGAvanias and porting the DS games to everything (XBL,PSN, Steam) wouldve been a better move.
- I'm playing the 2014 Strider game atm and they fucked this up I think
- Devil May Cry had a western developed game, was it any good? I just dont trust a non-japanese person with that type of game.
- Capcom killed Resident Evil by themselves, so fuck them
- Sumo Digital is an A+++ studio and made kick ass Sega racing games

Eh maybe it's just Castlevania that got the Shaft (pun intended). Konami seem like the biggest losers of the AAA revolution anyhow (although MGSV Ground Zeroes was fucking killer and I'm sure Phantom Pain is sweet too)

uhhhh any more?

Fixed.

The English version of Vesperia is definitely my favorite exclusive on the system. Probably the best game in the whole Tales series with such a memorable cast of characters. Rita  :heart

I would've been at NY if I'd stayed back east. Went in '14, show's at the same venue as it was last time. Comfy place. Going to first show of the tour is nice but all the other west based people I know are going to the SF and LA shows. :gloomy

Jesus I need to find my old HDD with my save or try and spec my Shanoa and/or Richter ASAP. Or Trent can carry us on Hard Mode and we can watch the loot flow like wine. Regardless Bore 360CVHD session would be amazing
