When I first started college my parents would have bible study at their house, and I was expected to come every Sunday. It didn't take long for me to figure out various excuses that I could use to avoid it. "Oh I joined a [insert study] club." 

But eventually I just said fuck it, stopped going, and didn't give an excuse. I was living near campus and had my own transportation.


I just knew that I couldn't fuck up in any way, because if I did the anger about me not attending Sunday class would be added to the anger of whatever fuck up I generated, thus reaching dangerous levels. Not quite "I'm gonna get Marvin Gaye'd" but close enough.

I don't think I could ever be with someone that didn't share my godless world view. Could I take someone seriously on all levels if they believed Noah built an ark and saved all animals?

I mean this will come up with so many things we discuss, and how we raise our kids, I don't know how we could do it with different viewpoints. Religion is not a small thing, it manifests in all facets of life.

I would never agree with my kid going to church and being indoctrinated since birth, unless she decides herself later that she wants to.

Happy wife happy life is like leaving the toilet seat down or whatever broads want, not going to church or becoming vegan.

I don't rule out some form of intelligent design as that wouldn't be scientific. But I can assure you you won't find any real answers in the bible, koran or a chinese fortune cookie.

The hard facts are that nothing that is in the bible is remotely true, and you yourself don't believe it either. So why send your kids to church? So that they can learn about a god you don't believe in?

I normally don't get into a religious discussion because you can't sway people and everyone can believe what they want but I only jumped now because:

-you send your kid to church and go yourself to keep the wife happy

A person being religious as an individual isn't terrible, but the problem is that most people like that have religious families that will expect certain things from you and more importantly any children you have.
