Pachinko hardware is almost never cutting edge. Many are still using souped-up Dreamcast hardware. I'm guessing current specs are lower by far than even PS4's, so my guess is they're pre-rendered movies.

When I saw the lighting in that first shot, I honestly thought it was a live-action sequence, but then the character models gave it away -- and then the world's worst lipsync animator went off in the paint.

Well, I mean the Fox Engine runs on a toaster for PC... so... it's not out of the realm of possibility. But man, I want those models.

so with these pachi games,  is it like a movie where winning just shows you the next scene, or is it set up like a game where you're presented with win /lose scenarios that are entirely dependent on a biased rng?

Pachinko advertisements air on the TV regularly here. It's huge business. But that edit is not TV-ad length. That's likely running on in-parlor screens.

I tried playing for realsies when I was in Japan and was like "omfg you have to be kidding me"

(Also I played through all of the Virtua Fighter pachinko in the latest Yakuza game)
