Parent Bore - Baby waking up SO EARLY
« on: June 09, 2016, 03:42:53 AM »
My princess is now 16 months and apparently wants to wake up errday around 0500. Like for the last 2/3 months  :'(

When we were on holiday bebe was waking up 0600+.

Normal time we try to put the kid to sleep is 1900ish, but this has little influence on waking time it seems.

I'll be buying new blackout curtains this weekend to see if it helps. Currently she is up so early she needs a nap BEFORE daycare. So instead of cycling with her I put her in her buggy and walk her to daycare so she can nap on the way.

Any ideas whats up with this ungodly time?

Get used to it. Adapt by going to bed earlier yourself.

The 'blackout curtains' should help some. (It wasn't even curtains, just a vinyl shade on a roller that you can pull down inside the frame of the window. Works great.)

I did it with mine and it cut down on the 5am wakeups noticeably.

Solution: don't spawn.

My sibling had problems waking up early as a baby. Turns out they had a hole in the roof of their stomach and were in constant pain but couldn't tell anyone because babies are stupid and can't talk. Anyway, good luck with the curtains.

Like an ulcer?  Maybe I don't understand the culture, but that's a little early for Jewish guilt, no?

Pretty sure this will end as soon as your kid should get up early by himself to get ready for school. At least it was like that for myself.

I hear if you cry louder then you establish dominance early.
Gotta make sure you draw the line with those diaper shitters.

I need to design a soundproof bubble cot for these monsters.

I also hear just putting your kid to bed and letting them cry themselves to sleep results in longer sleeps. Makes sense I guess, the warm embrace of bed is sweeter when the world is bleak.

That's temporary. They wake up because they are hungry. Out for about 2/3 more months to go and she should start sleeping until 7 or 8.
YMMV
