Cannot comment on the actual football content, but will that Belgium team really lives up to the hype surrounding it the last few years ? There's talent there but it doesn't seem certain this generation can do something akin to the 1986 team...

Good for Wales tho. Diversity in international competition is always good, especially since club competitions have been locked down for and by the big clubs...

That was a display of the gulf between one of the best teams in the world and a ragtag bunch of vikings with a coach who's a part time dentist but goddamn Iceland just fought to the bitter end. Could have easily been 5-4 since Iceland started getting past France's weak back line near the end of the game and the French forwards started gassing out.

France were good but I think that back line is going to really hurt them against any of the three teams remaining in the competition.

I think I can when it's been a constant nag with the French the entire competition and Iceland got very close to putting more in the back by the end of the match. Could have easily been 5-4 the way France's back line was playing by the end of the match. Iceland just kept going and France wasn't allowed to let up off the accelerator even with their lead. And even then you had a poor backline performance against the Republic Of Ireland and Switzerland in previous games where both those teams were unlucky not to score after some poor French defending.

They are strong at the front and bad at the back. Germany's going to tear them to pieces if they keep playing as they have.

Wales really were hurting without Aaron Ramsey who really was their player of the tournament. Bale was trying to fill two roles by taking up Ramsey's attacking midfield (Which didn't do much good) and Kanu wasn't the force he was. Then they just got shellshocked by that goal from Ronaldo and the fight went out. Hell of a performance though. Ireland have to face them for Russia qualifiers so it's going to be an interesting match (Woo trip to Cardiff)

France Vs Germany is either going to be incredible or boring as shit.

Some people think that a 0-0 game is always boring, but it really depends on the level of play. Like Holland Argentina 0-0 in 2014 was a tactical masterpiece with two matched sides.

Its like another level of football you have to be on to enjoy those games though.

Not that my opinion matters but I would be totally ok with Portugal winning, if it is to happen. We already have two Euros in the bag and we just beat Germany in a high stakes game. I have a friend of portuguese descent (Benfiquiste as usual here) so it will probably be fun all around.

Wouldn't mind beating them and keeping the trauma going tho.

Well congrats to France. I feel we were a bit unlucky in the game (both goals were clearly individual mistakes) but still not too sad. We just didn't create enough high quality chances to deserve the victory.

We played really well in the first half (that pressing & high risk counter protection

), but this was another example that players and coaching staff know how to defend against this style of tiki-taka/dominant football. Enough examples of that already with matches lost from Barcelona, Munich, Spain and Germany in the last couple of years.

I would put some blame on Löw that the team didn't develop more tactical versatility - why not try giving the opponent the ball and lure them out of defense? But that's probably easier said than done. Tactical mastermind Pep wasn't really able to teach such a different style to his teams either, it's probably even more difficult if you have just a couple weeks with the team.
