Going to be taking my daughter to the States in August, hoping she'll decide on an American university instead of the Japanese ones, which are (a) largely useless decompression chambers after high school's stressful rat race and (b) falling even further off in quality as Prime Minister Abe has created an agenda where only math and science are pursued, and only the largest and most prestigious universities have told him to Appropriately Go Fuck Himself.
American universities are at least good places to study and network instead of thinking only about how the uni's name will appear on one's lifetime employment company application. The US schools show how to remain flexible and creative in the face of a changing environment.
