This week's Japanese releases for 1/25
« on: January 25, 2007, 05:00:10 AM »
Vampire Rain (Xbox 360)

A Splinter Cell/Metal Gear style game, but you have to hunt down and kill vampires.  Has single and multiplayer modes.

EM Enchant Arm (PS3)

Ported from the Xbox 360 with new features and redone cutscenes.

Dance Dance Revolution SuperNOVA (PS2)

It's the 993483484th edition of DDR.

Lost Regnum (PSP)

Dungeon-Crawler.

Parodius Portable (PSP), Salamander Portable (PSP), and Twinbee Portable (PSP)

Three shooting collections from Konami.

The Idolm@ster (Xbox 360)

Manage the career of an idol singer and control different aspects of her career and talent.  Play dress up.  Creep out your friends!

Wish Room: Tenshi No Kioku (DS)

Better known as Hotel Dusk: Room 215 in English.

A point and click adventure game that's been getting high acclaim.  Set in the late 70s, you play as a former detective out to solve a classic murder mystery and discover the secret of a hotel room where dreams can supposedly come true.

Some Other Releases:

Samurai Spirits Tenkaichi Kenkakuden and Neo-Geo Battle Coliseum have been rereleased at budget prices.  If you fighters and still haven't picked these up, GO NOW BUY!  Grand Theft Auto San Andreas FINALLY gets released in Japan, and FFX and FFX2+Last Mission International get rereleased.

I got Vampire Rain today and have Hotel Dusk coming in the mail.  I'm also interested in Lost Regnum, but I want to try it out first.  Will probably get Parodius at some point...those games are always fun.

I did get it, but haven't played much yet cuz my fiance was over friday night and all day today.

The game is 100% English.  It's very much like a Splinter Cell clone, although it plays much faster.  Even crawling on the ground feels like it's going at turbo speed in comparison.  I only played the first mission, which was just training.  No going after vampires yet.  I do know that you have to really stay out of sight, because apparently you are quite weak (in the beginning?) compared to the vampires, so you have to sneak around, use tools to locate them, and then stealth kill them or avoid them.  The game also has multiplayer, with single and team play, capture the flag style modes, etc.  It's also very fast-paced and is nothing like Splinter Cell's multiplayer; it's straight up deathmatch.  Kinda like Winback but without any of the cover stuff.  The game looks okay; it's like an Xbox game instead of a 360 game, but it seems to be going at 60fps and I haven't seen any slowdown.  The story and dialogue are ultra-cheesy as expected.  The design really screams "Splinter Cell clone made by Japanese developers."  :)
