Evian Water - the Bottled Water Worth a Damn
« on: August 12, 2006, 11:06:06 PM »
It costs more, the bottle is all curvy crap, but this is some awesome water.

While I was in North Dakota, lamenting my seperation from videogames, good tv, and well...fun, I did have 2 years to appreciate water drawn from a well. Evian is the only bottle water ive had that has a taste close to that.

Yeah thats right, im a bottled water snob

Whoa, where did you live in ND? I lived in Grand Forks for 2 years.

I'm partial to Aquafina, but I don't buy bottled water very often.

Buying bottled water is just an extra expense; I can't understand why people would shell out money daily for water -- just buy a Brita filter and fill your own bottle periodically.  I mean, it's not like bottled water grants you superpowers or increases your libido or anything. :D  You're basically paying for a "purer" version of non-tasty beverage that's still...tasteless.  I drink lots of water for health reasons, but damn if I'll ever like the taste -- or should I say "lack of taste."  Sparkling water at least adds a bit of "texture" and is thus worth the purchase occasionally (though lime-flavored Perrier is similar to what I imagine liquid detergent would taste like).  But bottled water?  Pffft...  :P

Who knows, maybe the imagery they use in their advertising, replete with scenes of sparkling mountain streams and ponds, activates our dormant biophilia receptors, causing a powerful emotional reaction and overriding any sense of frugality we may have had in our saner moments. ;)

Brita Water is not the same as pure Well Water trust me, there is a taste that is completely unique. Evian has it, I havent found another water like it.

I like bottled water cause its cheap and less work.

To be clear, I don't like the taste of tap water much either (and I live in NYC, well known for its clean tap water).  But Brita-filtered water is alright, and is certainly the less expensive option. :)

Guess we all can't be rich like you, MAF. ;)

Yeah, I bought one of those Brita filters for the faucet.  Sure beats paying primo $$$ for bottled water.

At the office we have a reverse osmosis filtration system.  Pretty neat stuff.  Wish I had that setup at home.

I guess that's not bad if you drink one each day, but I drink a lot, so I'd need at least 3 per day (assuming you're referring to the 20-oz bottles).  So that's nearly $5 per day...or ~$1800/year...or about $90K for the rest of my life. ;)  Sorry, but I'd rather have that $90K to leave to my kids.  :P

Two 1-liter bottles for $3?  Yeah, definitely a sale, plus things are likely cheaper where you live than over here (NYC).  The 20-oz bottles are usually $1.50 here, so I thought that's what you were talking about.

well seattle is more expensive, I admit Evian is considered to be one of the MORE expensive bottled waters, you can get a 12 pack of 20 oz arrowhead most of the time on sale.

You do know what Evian spells backwards right?  They're mocking you MAF.  Bastages.

I have the same opinion on this as Loki.  An on-tap filter is the way to go.  Makes the water nice and clean, put it in a jug, throw in the fridge and you're good to go.  I use a PUR on-tap filter now (the Brita one fell apart in my hands, don't know my own strength :( )

On-tap filter for me, too. If I *must* got some bottled water during the day for whatever reason, I just get the smallest one available, finish it, and then refill it with the filtered tap at work.

You're all suckers.
