A few years back I saw Moz at some Ct casino. There wasn't that many people there besides the front pit and the place had clearly given away a few tickets to some high roller or whatever types. There was no opening act and it seemed apparent that they didn't have a soundcheck. When they came out for their encore after their main set Moz said something then paused for effect and somebody in the audience yelled 'Freebird!'. Moz then stated 'The electricity is gone'. Then he and the rest of the band walked off the stage without playing more. We didn't get two-three more songs that night but what we did get was infinitely better. My entire group were cracking up.

They only have one great album (Queen is Dead) and then two more good to great ones (Self Titled & Strangeways). Meat is Murder is a horrible record.

i went through one of those late teenager angst crisises about my purpose in life wearing various shades of grey and moping about the college campus and there was morrissey waiting for me with his silken voice lulling me gently into the reality that everything is empty and the girl/boy you love will never love you back but that's ok because if everything is empty and the girl/boy you love will never love you back that means there is nothing and nobody to love anyone so let's listen to fiona apple too because she's kinda on that same vibe and she's kinda hot in a sketchy way and after a few years you kinda grow out of it and the smiths discography just seems pallid and adolescent oh and speaking of fiona apple this paragraph is the title for her upcoming album.

fiona apple is great. i never got into the smiths because morrissey's voice is really offputting to me, as is his personality, but i can appreciate them from afar

her last album is pretty good actually. good to have someone grow up emotionally vs just play to the same tier year after year.

Honestly, all suburban "introspective" white girl real music(The Smiths, Joy Division, etc.) is pretty overrated.

dont trigger me now, joy division is goat

I guess you must be white from a first world country to appreciate the bleakness of the music

I like all of them, except the elizondo version of extraordinary machine. re: her growing up, I remember reading a review of one of her shows where they mention her playing 'paper bag' and smiling and rolling her eyes when she got to the chorus. seems pretty with it in terms of self-awareness

Morrissey is one of those guys I wanted to punch in the face just from listening to his voice. Only further reinforced by seeing his actual face.

They got some catchy songs tho

I had my favorite misheard lyric to Fiona's Criminal.
She says "I've come to you cause I need guidance to be true."
For months I thought it said, "I've come to you cause I need God and Pikachu"

I thought it was weird, but it was Fiona Apple, so I rolled with it. Honestly? It's much better the misheard way.

Do you want a top 5 for people who like to pretend music originally released on albums isn't mindless entertainment or my actual top 5 albums.

(I have to ask because even though I strenuously avoid music discussions here, I've been an unwilling victim of enough of them to reliably assume this forum is overwhelmingly populated by the former group.)
