Anyone else feel like they outgrew rugs?

Maybe this is a mistake as I'm posting in a forum full of grouchy old men, but anyone else feel like rugs are neither worth it nor really any good?

I'm not including door mats, bathroom mats, and Donald Trump's toupee in here, as they both have been accepted more or less. What I'm talking about is stuff like having a huge rug in your living room.

I used to be a heavy rug user, not too long ago either. But now? Bare floors, baby.

When we bought a place I made sure it was carpet-free.


Then my wife was like "I want to buy a big rug for the living room.  And one for the bedroom, too!"


But they have their uses-- the dog used to slide on the floors and now she can run and jump all over the place again.

When I moved into my new place, I didn't have any furniture to carry with me.  I slept on the wall to wall carpeted floor for  the first few nights since I didn't have a bed.  I wouldn't exactly call it pleasant, but I appreciated the little cushioning it was able to provide.

Honestly though I got a house built a long time ago and the only places that have carpet are my entryway and our kid's bedrooms.Rest is all hardwood.

Been on wood floors since i was a kid and fucking miss having at least one carpeted room.  The warm acoustics and soft feel on your feet. Comfy as fuck in the winter.

Wood floors are basically the dark chocolate of floors.  Bitter, bland, uncomfortable, lifeless and somehow a frequent and strangely passive proclaimation signifying adulthood.  Never my bro
