Silver Streak is my favorite movie he starred in. What starts as a train murder mystery comedy turns into an action movie by the end.
That is a great movie. Its a loving comedy-ish tweak on Hitchcock (and a pretty good one at that), and then Richard Pryor shows up almost exactly halfway into it and highjacks the movie into a new and somewhat berserk direction. But yeah, loved this guy, how could you not love this guy?
how great were the 70's that a guy like Gene Wilder (and Elliot Gould, Richard Benjamin, George Segal...) could become a major star? The reason we'll never have another like him is because market conditions pretty much shot that possibility to shit years ago.
