16. Videodrome

Subversive, perversive, paranoid, and halucinatory, Videodrome is one of my favorite horror movies.

17. The Rocky Horror Picture Show

What a guy. Makes you cry. And I did.

Watched The Whisperer in the Darkness (2011) very good and one of my favorite Lovecraft stories.

4. Red Dragon

Watch the Michael Mann version. Better in every aspect and not subversient to Silence...

14. Empire of the Ants

It's not really the same genre (more of the Andromeda Strain variety, no giant size) but a good horror/SF movie with ants is Saul Bass's Phase IV.

I appreciate that this was able to get made, but sadly it's really not very good. It's more of a series of loosely connected scenes than an actual movie, and although some of the scenes are pretty good, it never comes together. It feels more like a polished fan film than anything, for better and for worse. You can tell it was a labor of love though, so I can't totally hate it. I just wish it was a little more cohesive.

Related: I'm shooting my short horror film for this year tomorrow!

I've made one in October for the past two years and always shoot them in a day or less. I'm pretty excited about this one and think it'll be my best yet. :)

Will post it here when it's done.

Shot most of it tonight! Should be done on the 27th. It's gonna be pretty short but I really can't wait to see how it turns out.
