like, if he wasn't a fucking monster who is trying to destroy the country for the benefit of the ultra-rich, this wouldn't be a big deal. but it's not just a light hearted joke. it's a continued effort to de-legitimize any kind of opinion other than those from himself and his admin. it's gross and extremely scary.

CNN is doing the delgitimizing of CNN. In that GIF was actually correct, it'd be CNN clotheslining CNN.
Yup, that's exactly the point. People need to start thinking in terms of consciousness reaction, and framing the response differently, because everyone is letting Trump frame the way these responses go. And so far with each stupid things he says, he's won his primaries, the election, and Republicans even won special elections.
When they respond he's not acting Presidential, its immediately turned into a war of his supporters saying he tells it like it is, and agreeing with his war on the media. He's been able to frame everything into a war on 'regulation' and 'political correctness' - two phrases that have extremely negative connotations in his base because they're perceived as red tape or softness.
The way responses are need to be framed differently, and what he's attacked on needs to be changed. Instead of hitting him on how he acts, the question should be reframed completely: why does the President have time every morning to sit on his ass and watch news or cost the taxpayers millions playing golf each weekend?
Everything he says needs to be turned back around to the economy, because that is the best attack on him and their party that there is. Pure New Deal FDR liberalism. If he speaks to veterans saying he supports the troops, propose a plan to tax the private military industry like Lockheed Martin to pay for VA hospital upgrades and benefits. If he speaks to the coal industry, propose a plan to tax them to pay for career miners to relocate or goto school for a new position. Illegal immigrants taking jobs? Greedy corporations hired people trying to survive to undercut American workers and make heavy profits.
It's amazing how Democrats have continuously let him control the message going on two years now. A pure media war and immigration used to be footnotes, and he's controlled every second of that. I don't know if the opposition can be fixed within the Democratic Party though, a third party running on a corporate free platform may have a better shot at this point.
