It's as if Ys meets Diablo, fun Falcom dungeon crawl game. Friend won a Japanese copy a while back at a con, and I played it and it was pretty neat... nice to finally play in English.

Just made it to the Skulltula boss. Really fun game, if a bit more rigid than the Ys games. Pretty cool dungeon design where you open up lots of shortcuts back and forth (reminiscent of the Souls games), some nice abilities that you can acquire to make combat interesting. I've encountered a few glitches (like not being able to enter your name if you use a gamepad). Music isn't really some of Falcom's better tunes though.

Up to the final boss now, really enjoyed the game. Level design is really awesome - lots of interconnected hallways and opening up shortcuts, between that and the skeleton archers I wouldn't be surprised if this influenced the Souls series in some way.

Also shocked how not too many on the Bore have taken a look, this seems like the kind of game that'd strike a chord with a lot of people on the board.

Oh, that's Tokyo Xanadu.  A talky talk talk high school sim game made out of pieces left over from Trails of Cold Steel 1.  Xanadu Next is completely different.
