The Trump organization/administration isn't nearly competent enough to pull off an assassination of...well...anyone.
But that doesn't mean they won't try.  :lol

My guess is that the whole idea of this has more to do with shifting the news cycle then any sort of actual diplomatic goals on our part, other than Trump wants to hold up something that says “I won”.

From seeing the negotiations on everything Trump has tried in the last year, it’s very clear Trump values The appearance of doing something much much more than he cares about what that thing does, or if it is good or bad.

And no one in their right mind would negotiate with him in good face anyway, because he shown time and time again that he is completely untrustworthy and won’t necessarily follow through on his word.

It’s not even clear he could get the Senate to ratify any deal he put together.

Just getting the US to start publicly engaging in a diplomatic process means it's less likely they'll try some kind of preemptive strike. Even if nothing ever comes out of these talks, that's a win for both Koreas.

"How are you people staying in shape so well, must be one hell of a DIET hahahahah!"

"Yeah, well we could do something about the sanctions but what will you do in return?"

"Give up the nukes? Nope, that won't do, than who do I threaten to blow up?"

"Well the sanctions haven't impacted your sister I see ;) Don't you like that sis, she's pretty hot right?"

https://www.wsj.com/articles/trump-lawyers-seek-deal-with-mueller-to-speed-end-of-russia-probe-1520625944

Quote
WASHINGTON—President Donald Trump’s lawyers are seeking to negotiate a deal with special counsel Robert Mueller that uses an interview with the president as leverage to spur a conclusion to the Russia investigation, according to a person familiar with the discussions.

The president’s legal team is considering telling Mr. Mueller that Mr. Trump would agree to a sit-down interview based on multiple considerations, including that the special counsel commit to a date for concluding at least the Trump-related portion of the investigation. One idea is to suggest a deadline of 60 days from the date of the interview, the person said.

I don't think that's going to work.

I get why there would be some level of negotiations. Trump could claim executive privilege and sue or fire Rosenstein or just refuse to comply and even if he's in the wrong legally it would create a huge mess that Mueller would want to avoid.

But "we'll submit to an interview if you agree to end the investigation"? Good luck with that.

It still shows a profound ignorance of the NATO funding agreement and it isn't going to do anything but further enflame the potential budding trade war.

Makes you wonder how much liquidity Trump has access to if he couldn't even pay that sort of money himself upfront (or for a so called fixer to believe so). Then again it's Trump, he probably just forgot or scammed the guy.

Just watched the first few seconds of that vid and turned it off (since I got shit to do) BUT in that short period of time it showed a clip of some NRA TV dude ranting about liberals wanting to dis-arm Americans. You know, the same thing Cindi was saying. Yet...can anyone point to a major dem movement to dis-arm Americans? Banning one particular type of gun does not equal "taking guns away." If ARs were banned for instance, it's not like people who currently have them out be forced to give them up to THE STATE or face death/incarceration. You'd get to keep your fucking AR since, ya know, you bought it when it was legal to buy. The law would simply restrict you from buying a new one for your kid or something.

Admittedly it's hard to remember all the people dismissed or fired or who quit from the current administration, as well as the people interviewed by Mueller.

Maybe group them by the first letter of their last name.

Hate to say I told you so but yea. If a bunch of 5 year old kids getting shot didn't change anything, teens getting shot wasn't going to change anything either. And given how news is handled...it was inevitable that people would move on to another story. Now the kids will basically become staples of the liberal news bubble, their views will be RT'd nonstop by people I follow...but overall no one else will care. And then when another school or building is shot up we'll see the same thing play out.

To be fair they did ultimately get some minor legislation passed in Florida.

I think ithere isn’t a whole lot of evidence a slight bump up in the buying age will do much and a longer waiting period is certainly good but all in all it’s pretty light.

I think the biggest victory, if there is one, is the way it shifted public opinion. But who knows if that is temporary or can last until Democrats have power again and undoubtedly the next one happens. But nothing federally was ever going to happen with a Republican majority and surprise, surprise Trump has completely walked back his statements and re-taken the NRA stance.

President Trump dialed in a "Fox & Friends" co-host to weigh in on legislation about veterans’ health care during a meeting with Veterans Affairs (VA) Secretary David Shulkin, Axios reported Sunday.

Shulkin and Trump were discussing legislation to reform veterans' health care during an Oval Office meeting last week when Trump reportedly called "Fox & Friends" co-host Pete Hegseth to get his opinion.

It doesn't matter what Trump did or didn't do in terms of the Russian collusion. It'll never end on his doorstep.

The CIA, NSA, FBI and all other intelligence agencies would have to admit that Donald Trump's unpaid circus clowns and some Russian trolls outsmarted them and they were powerless to stop it despite already monitoring a bunch of his associates.
It's better for them to just have the big question mark hovering over the issue. So they can point to 'Russian collusion' as a way to get more funding. Otherwise people start to wonder what the hell those agencies are for when the Russians can take over the biggest political party.

I know we have Godwin's Law, but there needs to be some catch all for how every political topic even tangentially involving enormous government bureaucracies inevitably ends up with a bunch of people offering conspiracies anchored around how bureaucracies supposedly operate as some sort of Borg like collective hive mind and they have the Locutus insight.
